I don't know why everyone is so uptight about Huawei.
All major manufacturers of telecom exchanges and equipment have intercept facilities in their equipment. It allows the security forces to monitor any suspicious people.
The scare about 5G is that it allows interaction between "smart" gadgets. There is the paranoia that the network could be used to shut down utility companies who use smart equipment for maintenance work etc. I don't think anyone would spend time listening to moaning ex pats on their phones after a night out and what secrets does Cambodia have to hide?
My downer with "Who Are We" is that they ripped off Ericsson and Nokia in the design of their equipment. Absolutely no difference between the Ericsson AXE10 exchange and Huawei's switch. Same coding, same software, same data fill procedures. They simply reverse engineered everything with the protection of the PRC government from law suits for copyright infringements.
Cambodia will not have to pay up front, Huawei will simply build the infrastructure with Chinese labour and equipment and suck the Cambodian people and Government dry over the following years.
