Authorities order cadaver back to guesthouse for a proper police investigation
Phnom Penh: The owner of the Chea Rithy Heng 2 Guesthouse, #226, Highway 6A (Mekong River Street according to Koh Santepheap) , Group 10, Village Kean Klayung, Prek Leap Commune, Russei Keo District, was ordered by police and local authorities to receive back the corpse of a Swedish national he had had shipped off to the Calmette Hospital, in order to allow police to conduct a proper investigation into his death at his guesthouse.
The order was issued after the guesthouse owner had hired a private clinic’s (តុបសិត) ambulance to transport the corpse of the 65 year old Swede to the Calmette Hospital, after he had been found dead in his guesthouse. The guesthouse owner had secretly arranged for the clinic to take the corpse to the hospital without having informed police and the local authorities of the matter.
When the DAP News Center tried to contact the guesthouse by dialing the number posted on their sign out front, the male who picked up the phone promptly hung up when he realized who was calling. The aborted phone call was made in the early afternoon of the 9th of January, 2013.
Local authorities, however, stepped in to tell DAP that, at 10 on the morning of the 9th of January, 2013, a sudden uproar was precipitated when a 22 year old Cambodian female was seen darting from room 107 of the Chea Rithy Heng 2 Guesthouse to apprise the owner that her 65 year old Swedish lover had just died of a heart attack.
Authorities identified the deceased as TORNBLOM LARS GORN (TORNBLOM LARS GORAN according to Koh Santepheap), a 65 year old Swede holding passport #80612413, who had entered Cambodia on a tourist visa.
The dead Swede’s 22 year old lover, identified as Kouch Srey Lin, informed authorities that the pair of them had been living together at the Chea Rithy Heng 2 Guesthouse for almost a month now, and that at the time of his death the victim had suddenly succumbed to a heart attack.
It is still unknown what measures authorities intend to take with this guesthouse that:
1) Did not report it to the authorities that a foreigner had rented a room there ពេលភ្ញៀវបរទេស ចូលស្នាក់នៅមិនបានរាយការណ៍ជូនអាជ្ញាធរ.
2) Upon the importune death of a guest, and without informing police and the authorities of the matter, hurriedly hired an ambulance from a private clinic to rush the corpse to a hospital in a bid to be rid of it.
