I've not met a single foreign teacher who isn't a native speaker (not that I think that particularly matter) I have been provided with books and cds for every grade/class, and even received constructive feedback on my lessons, something I've not had even at super posh catholic schools in Thailand..... I dunno, after a few weeks I may well see why there's the hate, but at the moment what those threads allude to and my experience don't really tally...
Good stuff dude! That's great to hear.
I think a lot of the teachers whining about schools make life difficult for themselves. Maybe they have higher expectations than are strictly necessary, or maybe they are being unreasonable in their outlook. Who knows? Sweating on the little things is natural to most people. The biggest thing that would make me leave a school is if they do not pay me in full and on time. No messing about there. They pay or I leave.
In my experience I will give a school a try and be flexible in my outlook. If things are really bad then I will leave pronto and I will ALWAYS consider what I did or did not do to exacerbate the situation.
Teaching, like life, is mostly what you make of it. Sometimes things that you cannot control will mess you about but generally you are the one with the control.
Best of luck mate. Sounds like you're enjoying yourself so get stuck in
QFT, couldnt have put it better myself...I dunno I'm just happy to teach kids that want to (for the most part) learn, and aren't just waiting to leave to get pregnant or start their careers as tuc-tuc drivers.... The money is as good as Thailand, but cost of living is cheaper, and Khmers are just generally more genuine than Thais.... so yeah, I may be at a "joke" school, bit I'm happy and that's all that really matters right?
