Zaman is not only a cult, but a fascist regime, much like the current regime in Turkey. (How many of the failed coup participants, or suspected participants, have been executed without a trial?)
The current head of the English Department is a Chinese woman who knows English as a second language. Her command of the language is awful, especially her grammar. In case you missed the point: she's the head of the "English" department.
The staff and administration are "de facto" segregated by gender and ethnicity: The Turks (and other persons speaking a Turk language); the Filipinos (most of whom teach in the English language); and various minority cliques all eat in segregated groups during lunch hour.
Teachers are expected to teach extra classes, known as Cambridge Club, without being paid an extra hourly wage. As an ESL teacher with many years' experience, I have never seen that before. The norm is to pay extra (in addition to salary) for extra classes.
The children have no discipline whatsoever. The are allowed to run roughshod over the adults in the hallways, the cafeteria and the classrooms. This is justified because their wealthy parents pay Zaman serious money to attend this mediocre school.
A very unpleasant place to teach English.
