As far as I know this was a bloodless invasion, as the French authorities were Pétainists. Anyway, there are some great shots of a very different capital in 1940:

And on a different note this barely recognizable footage of Phnom Penh in 1989. Worth watching just for the "Oi - fuck off you little shit" segment at the start.
