As I've suggested before, he probably got it from his girlfriend (the woman with whomhe presumably has regular unprotected sex and with whom he had unprotected sex multiple times during the normal 2-10 day incubation period). It's less likely that he got it from a one off encounter with a ho 6 weeks before the symptoms showed up. Most women with gonorrhea are asymptomatic.
What's important here is not his health and recovery, but the assessment of blame.
