Cobra poison is not only necrotic. in fact very few snake shave only one type of poison.
Neurotoxic, haemotoxic, cytotoxic etc, usually a combination
Neuro shits down your nerves, paralyses your chest muscles, die of asphyxiation. Usually elapids, cobras, mambas, kraits etc. have the highest percentage, Be very wary if some quack wants to discharge you when you seem well, relapses are common after a few hours/ a day of big improvement
Factoid: research is being done on mamba venom wrt pain relief, as apparently you may asphyxiate and die, but the last stages are painless. Cold comfort.
Haemo causes you to bleed from everywhere by shutting down coagulants in your body, highets percentage in colubrids (back-fanged) snakes, boomslang, vine snake etc. No antivenom for vine snake, limited for boomslang, most bite sdealt with on a treat symptoms basis.
Cyto destroys tissue and is usually the longest lasting effect of any bite, long after you are out of danger. Many elapids and vipers have some percentage of this.
There are a variety of standards for measuring most venomous snake, top spot usually goes to Eastern tiger snake and Island tiger(Australian island)
But the snake you least want to be close to is a black mamba, fastest, aggressive if cornered, huge amount of deadly venom, strikes after raising 2/3 of it's body off the ground, so chest/face bites can happen with a large specimen. Not much anyone can do if that happens, hour/couple of hours you're history.
Avoid them, don't try to kill them.
