Hello.
We took a family trip to Cambodia over the Winter Break and had a wonderful time. My wife was born in Cambodia (1976) and came to the US by way of refugee around 1980. We have 2 US born kids 14 &16.
I was wondering if someone here has experience with getting Cambodian citizenship and possibly for kids and husband. We tried calling out to the Embassy in DC and they directly us to contact the passport office in Cambodia. None of us speak Khmer, thus might be challenging to communicate. Information online is pretty limited.
From my limited research, I have a few questions at this point. Probably a lot more as we go through this process.
-Birth Certificate - Although my wife was born in Cambodia, we really have no way of getting it. Her parents are still around, but not sure how much they can help.
-Time it takes - since we do not live in Cambodia, how best to navigate the process. I would expect to go there to complete all the forms in person, but would like to plan accordingly.
-Cost - From other threads, I do not think it would cost too much money. Less than $500 USD?
-Other members of family - What is the possibility to get citizenship for kids (minors versus non-minors) and husband?
Thank you for any input provided.
