I wonder what Vespasian thinks of Rishi Sunak. I don't think Sunak is nearly as polarizing of a figure as his predecessor.
Your take on U.K. politics is interesting but inaccurate.
Sunak is as despised in the U.K. as both Johnson and Truss. The poll numbers are through the floor. Worse for the Tories, he’s derided not only by the Tories’ natural opponents but is currently despised by a lot of the Tory right too, so it’s a double whammy for him.
I had hoped he might be a relief from those hopeless charlatans. He promised a more open and transparent approach to politics. He has failed in that miserably, evidenced by his grotesque continuation of the Rwanda policy, a policy that he actually opposes deep down and said wouldn’t work when he was chancellor, but which he knows he has to push to appease the unappeasable Braverman wing.
