Re: Where to get a driving licence in Phnom Penh?
That's the thing: I didn't take the test because I had no time for it before coming to Cambodia. I had a 125cc bike and did drive 500cc and 600cc bikes a little but only under school supervision - my intention is to take a test with a 600cc bike the next time I go back. (In summer, when driving at 6...

Re: Where to get a driving licence in Phnom Penh?
Thanks, but it doesn't mention about the fact that when converting a car driving licence to Cambodian licence one can only seemingly get a *car* driving licence, not a bike licence. Or was this the agency's fault? In that case, how can I ensure that I get the correct driving licence when using an ag...

Re: Where to get a driving licence in Phnom Penh?
In other words, despite specifically requesting a motorbike licence for 125cc bike when converting UK licence (which does also allow 125cc bike - laws might have changed since I got mine) all I got was a car driving licence. The police once asked to see it but didn't say anything about me driving a ...

Re: Where to get a driving licence in Phnom Penh?
Finally I have an access to internet again (don't know how long though)! I am a bit confused about the driving licence though. I meant that do I need to take a separate driving test for a bigger bike than 125cc (category A2)? My previous Cambodian licence (I found it after all) was category B licenc...

Re: Bus to the airport
I wonder how the new shuttle train affects local business when it will open this season? Price? I'm thinking of all the backpackers that now take a tuk tuk or a moto. It's not supposed to be any faster though, not at least after the bridge is completed. (Anyone has a date for that?) Any actual date ...

Where to get a driving licence in Phnom Penh?
Simple question: where do I get a 1 year driving licence in Phnom Penh? I used to convert my licence via a driving school that charged $50 for the first time and them $40 for subsequent years; but that driving school is not there anymore and the one round the corner took my money but never processed...

Re: Mould killer?
Thank you very much for the link! I did have breathing problems before but I thought it was the dust, because while I was in England the symptoms went away. Luckily I haven't developed those symptoms yet after coming back. And finally the landlord has come to look at it: they are trying to determine...

Re: I need a customs broker!
I have no idea if these are sarcastic remarks or real suggestions (but I guess the former). I'm only asking because releasing the goods from airport has so many steps, running from office to office that I have never figured it out and my Khmer is too rudimentary to even understand what those offices...

Re: Cambodia Visas
I posted this question in the facebook but thought to try my luck here as well: my last year's 12 month visa extension was marked as "single entry" , which has never been the case before. I wonder if there is an option on the form to choose single or multiple entry and the agent has gone and ticked ...

I need a customs broker!
At least that's what I think they are called... My friend has sent me a lot of stuff and the shipping company doesn't have anyone at this end to deal with logistics at customs. In the past I have gone myself but have always in the end been assigned someone working at the airport to help me deal with...

Mould killer?
I have one room that has black mould on the walls and ceiling and also on wooden furniture, including untreated wood. Where can I buy mould killer, the kind of liquid you brush on or wipe over surfaces; will it cause any problem if I use it before varnishing untreated pine? I keep the window open to...

Re: A silly question about motorbikes
I went looking around for a Jupiter or similar bike, one that looks like a Honda dream or Suzuki Viva so wouldn't look out of place on the street (always a bonus for not attracting attention) and it is even possible to wear a skirt when riding one of those. But I couldn't find anything of that style...

Re: A silly question about motorbikes
Thanks Mèo Đen, for your reply. Yes, I think a small automatic bike in the city would be best, I could put a lot of shopping on the "floor" of a scooter, too. That's what it is meant for, isn't it? But I don't like scooters, they are so heavy and my understanding is that they consume a lot of ...

Re: A silly question about motorbikes
I'm in Cambodia now. I drove mostly an old beat-up 124CC Suzuki Marauder that couldn't get up the hills, especially if I had to stop at traffic lights in the middle of climbing one. Not a problem in most Cambodia but I an still hankering for a bike with proper gears, so when I go back I won't get co...
