Re: 'State of Emergency'/full lockdown - Page 9
When you look at Myanmar and the way China is pulling the strings, it’s not unlikely that China seek to do the same with Cambodia. The goal is to canvass the region with CCP hegemony and now might be the right time. I hope you guys stocked up well with Anchor beer You can say what you want, though ...

Re: Are house prices dropping because of Covid?
There are definitely some good deals to be made for those with spare change. However, anyone who knows Khmers knows that they can be very stubborn in their pricing schemes. Covid has helped the housing market in certain ways. It was way too hot and a bubble about to burst back in late 2019 when this...

Apologies, didn't read above (because it was in a tiny page on my smartphone's browser ;-p).

Re: Motorcycle rides to different provinces
I'd say 400km days are plenty here. Wouldn't want to do much more than that.

Re: Hit and Run Motorcycle Lady Left BMW1200 and Escaped to SGP
Why do eyewitness reports say it was yellow then? Or did they mean dark with a bit of orange? The piece does seem to match her ride, but people seemed to say the bike was yellow in the original reports.

Re: PP vs Siem Reap
Yeah I'm not sure why or where this "Siem Riep is so poor" spiel started from. I'm sure it might have been statistically true in 2000 or whatever, but the place hasn't been visibly poorer than other parts of rural Cambodia for a long time. I always got the feeling it was one of those half-truths tha...

Re: Can I deposit cash into someone else's ABA account?
You can deposit money in the machines without a card? Wouldn't that create a risk that someone mistypes their account number and deposits their cash into someone else's account? A name appears after you've entered the number, so you should probably know the name of the person who's account you're d...

Re: Land For Sale In Kep
Btw, those agents can be smelled from a mile away and are always so easy to recognize. I don't doubt a few Chinese got in early (especially with large plots), but I doubt many got rock bottom prices. Pump and dump after a few years with either locals (thanks to aforementioned unscrupulous Khmer real...

Re: Most interesting rural spot in Cambodia
I usually go straight through it, rarely stay there. It's the only way to go from Battambang/Pursat/Kravanh to Koh Kong and as mentioned, was a great dirtbiking road back in the day. Now it's mostly laterite so of little interest to me, but tours still take customers through there and sometimes you'...
