Re: Brexit Referendum June 23rd
another perspective, I copy/paste from a FB posting: A good friend of mine came up with a great idea. If you don't have the time/inclination to find out all the facts about the EU referendum (I don't blame you) and are possibly unsure which way to vote, perhaps knowing how other notable people are ...

Re: TV Club- Good Things to Watch
Here is the first episode of Black Mirror on YouTube. https://youtu.be/RHTRVOGJRFA Synopsis: Princess Susannah (Lydia Wilson), a much loved member of the Royal Family, is kidnapped and the ransom demand is an unusual one; Prime Minister Michael Callow (Rory Kinnear) must have sexual intercourse with...

Re: TV Club- Good Things to Watch
The British series Black Mirror is incredible. There are two seasons so far - each comprised of three one hour long episodes. Each episode is self-contained and they are all about various nightmarish/dystopian near-future scenarios. Quite a Nineteen Eighty-Four vibe. Also pretty amazing that one epi...

Narcos - incredible new Netflix show about Pablo Escobar. Really, really good. Only one series out so far, but highly recommended.
Also +1 to the Peep Show recommendation earlier in the thread. Fucking hilarious British comedy - genius!

Lol, I've inadvertently inspired Greg to claim he's some kind of SEO-master(batur).
Greg - I apologise! I didn't understand how google serves up search results! Not to worry, you're still just as useless and awful as ever!

Re: Gregory Michael Blake, the police may be looking for you
Googel search for "Gregory Michael Blake" currently shows his own Wordpress site first with Michelle's site nested under it; then sites from UTAS, the National Library (about his publications), from Ancestry.com of all things, and then the Khmer 440 thread. In other words, K440 has sprung back up t...

New thriller set in Cambodia.
Earlier this year Lawrence Osborne brought out "Hunters in the Dark" - Osborne is a serious heavyweight author who gets reviewed in the Guardian and New York Times and such places. The book is excellent from a literary point of view, but as I said, Andy Hill does it better Am I correct in thinking ...

Thanks for the heads up mate. I've had that book on my radar for a little while but haven't read it yet. I have read Bangkok Noir though so am semi familiar with what to expect. Will make it my next kindle purchase!

Great thread. GMB has been thoroughly dominated by Gavin Mac's ridiculously efficient internet sleuthing. I also thought those people who contributed to the thread that have actually been on the receiving end of Greg's clear psychopathy conducted themselves with some real class

Well I've bought the kindle version and will be sure to give you a review once I've finished it mate. Glad to see something based in Cambodia - read heaps of books in this genre and they always tend to be purely based in thailand. Dig the cambo setting!

Although do agree with other posters above - the cover is super generic. I look for books in this vein regularly but if I was just browsing Amazon and saw that cover I wouldn't even bother reading the blurb...

Well I read the free kindle sample and am going to buy the kindle book in full. Thought it was rad. Nothing absolutely groundbreaking by any means, but well written, entertaining and of a genre I enjoy. Reminds me a bit of The Big Mango so far (which I thought was awesome). Good job mate
