Re: Nung ey
Using it like "I agree" is probably the most common usage, but there is a slight variant that you should probably know. In many contexts, it can mean like "this one" or "exactly like that" or even take the form of a phrase like "in the here and now." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTe7qccHZmY For i...

Impressions from Second Trip to Cambodia
I first visited Cambodia in early 2017 but had an undecided impression, so I decided to give the country another chance and recently returned for 10 days. This time, I traveled with a lady that I originally met through an online dating site. I made Cambodia the second leg of a longer trip, with time...

Re: Translation for a tattoo
No you'd want to use a khmer proverb that is actually very similar but any khmer would understand ឆ្ងាយកាយ ណាយចិត្ត It means like the people are far apart, the heart will change It is almost always a bad idea to do a one to one translation because the languages are so different. that proverb means ...

Re: How long does it take to learn Cambodian?
I have been studying for 3 years in October and am still not particularly great. I think it is never truly learned; you just reach certain levels at which you feel "okay" with it.

Re: Retirement visa under 55 - not happening
How much does the 6 month job seeker visa cost and is it multi-entry? The 6 mth EG (General) EOS Is multi entry (all 6 & 12 mth EOS are multi entry). Same cost as any other 6 mth EOS, approximately $145 -170, depending on the agent you use and your geographical location. How hard is it to get that?...

Re: Retirement visa under 55 - not happening
How much does the 6 month job seeker visa cost and is it multi-entry? I wish people would stop talking bullshit about 6-12 month visas, because they don't exist for the vast majority of people. A VOA lasts 30 days, and that is all most normal people are going to get when arriving, It's a 30 day vis...

Re: Is This the Draft Browns Finally Figure it Out?
I am just going to go out on a limb and say the browns will fuck up like usual. Honestly have no idea how they can just keep missing. Maybe it isn't the organization but all the trappings of Cleveland that gets to these draftees lol 2 of the top 4?? They have to get one of them right. It will be in...

Re: Is This the Draft Browns Finally Figure it Out?
I'd go with Barkley (the best RB in the draft). They have Taylor at QB who can be serviceable for the year. Barkley and Hyde make a formidable backfield. Look at all the playoff teams for the last few years and especially SB winners. Very few have had superstar RBs like AD. Those days are gone when...

Is This the Draft Browns Finally Figure it Out?
They have been due for almost two decades and despite multiple years where they picked multiple times in the first round, the misses keep coming. (Remember the year with Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden? Or an even worse year with Justin Gilbert and Manziel?) It is almost impressive how many time...

Re: Cost of living going up?
For a single man that amount will get you roughly a comfortable Western middle class standard of living, you'll gain in some areas such as hired help, wining/dining and lose in others such as medical care or variety of goods available. As a single person to live like a king here you need $10k+ per ...

សូមអញ្ជើញអោយឆ្ងាញ់ som anjoon owie chang It means like I hope you find it tasty, which is the closest Khmer approximation. That said, it is not particularly well used; I just know it because I asked my Khmer teacher once. https://www.facebook.com/atelierkampot/posts/1292798794162786 You can find a f...

Re: If you could do it all over again.
I have never lived in Cambodia mostly because of this forum, lol. I have an okay job in America and don't see any reason to go into the unknown. The real dealbreaker for me is how darn conservative the women are. I understand that's their right and I have no problem with it; I just know it's not th...
