Re: Vietnam - best value in SEA
I didn't know about "Bia Hoi" until I saw this thread, thanks to ya'll for mentioning it. I went out and found some Bia Hoi last night and was surprised to find that it's just $0.50 for a liter of beer. They have a slightly better tasting beer for $2.00 per liter. You can believe I got wasted! No di...

Re: looking to buy a new mid-range Android phone in Phnom Penh.
I recently did a lot of research into a new android phone for myself and got the Xiaomi Mi A1, then I flashed custom stuff on it to improve the camera and audio. Good value, so happy. Here's a simple breakdown for you: + any of the models ending in "pro" are good choices + the pocofone f1 has extrem...

Have you considered a Garmin or Xiaomi watch instead? Garmin watches are pretty bangin', and I've heard the Xiaomi AmazFit is decent.

Re: Vietnam - best value in SEA
Yeah nam is a lot cleaner than Cambodia, but littering is still a problem. Street-sweepers work around the clock and some people make a living picking up recyclables. Their efforts make the huge problem that is littering seem like not such a big deal. Everybody and their mom litters, but the street ...

Re: noise isolation for apartments
Noise from outside is terrible - the doors here have air gaps of about 5 cm under them, cheap ass windows let all the noise through. Construction noise from 8 to 5, usually 6 days a week. Brats take over at 5, none of them can talk, just scream at the top of their lungs. That goes on until 7:30 pm....

noise isolation for apartments
How's the construction in Cambodia? Do apartments in big cities like Phnom Penh and Siem Reap have good-quality apartments? How thin are the walls? How easily can you have a conversation with someone through the wall? How much noise comes in from outside? My current apartment in Vietnam is pretty ba...

Re: $200 ish tablet
I'm not sure if you got your tablet yet, but I would recommend Xiaomi's tablet too because they make great stuff. In another thread someone said gearbest.com will ship to Cambodia. Here's a link to the tablet: https://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_009231100616.html?wid=1349303 You can see it has a ...

Haha, I guess I'm just lucky I never experienced a traffic jam like that while I was there. Does that happen every day? Looks bad.

Settling in Cambodia
What attracted you to Cambodia, and what made you decide to live there long-term? For me, I like the general feeling of freedom in the air and the large expat and tourist community. I definitely missed the golden years for drugs and weapons, but I felt that rules were lax and everybody mostly did th...
