Re: short term job opportunities?? Vietnam?
How does what you want to do help the students? If you want to help yourself, volunteer at an orphanage; don't take money off kids annd their families. I would be helping students by providing educationally sound lessons while their regular teacher is away. I hope that is what I am doing now here i...

Re: short term job opportunities?? Vietnam?
Hi I was hoping that someone might need a "fill in" for a couple of weeks while they make a quick trip back home - 6 weeks or so. This is what I am doing now in Thailand. The reason I WANT to work is so I can put into practice some of the stuff I learned in my CELTA course (love it or hate it, CELTA...

short term job opportunities?? Vietnam?
Hi, I'm a certified teacher with 30 years experience (science and math in Canada), a masters degree, and I've recently received my CULTA . . . uh, I mean CELTA certification. I am currently filling in at an Elementary school in Thailand. On about Nov1 (possibly a bit earlier) I will be "free" to tak...

Water Festival 2014???
Hi, I am wondering what the dates are for the water festival. I tried Googling it but 2 different dates. A couple of sites say it ids on Nov 5, 6, and 7 with Independence Day being on the following Monday (giving a nice long weekend). But a couple of other sites say it is on Nov 27 - 29. I need to k...

Khmer440 -Thai version??
Hi
I am going to be in Chiang Mai for a month and have a few specific questions. I am wondering if there is a website similar to Khmer440 (which is awesome!) but for Thailand.

Re: The CELTA course
Hi, My girlfriend and I are taking the CELTA course in Chiang Mai in August. There is a course in July in Phuket. I think the website is showing that the August course is filling up. The CElta is a requirement to teach at ACE, which is one of the better schools in Cambodia (the best??) I am a teache...

Re: Phnom Penh or Siem Reap? (4 months work)
OP - if you already tried Phnom Penh and didn't like the city seems you already have your answer. Not really. Siem Reap isn't (or at least wasn't) as hectic or polluted as PP, so physically it is more attractive to me. But I have lots of connections in PP. I guess I am looking for any really strong...

Phnom Penh or Siem Reap? (4 months work)
Hi, In September I plan to be teaching in Cambodia and may have the opportunity to locate in either Phnom Penh or Siem Reap. I am familiar with Phnom Penh and have friends there, but it certainly is not one of the nicest cities in the world. Any general thoughts on considerations that I should weigh...

I'll be taking CELTA in Chiang Mai this August. Courses are also offered in Puket (Phuket?) and Vietnam. None in Phillipines

New Cafe in Battambang
Just got back from BTB where I discovered a new cafe on 2 1/2 street called the 2 1/2 Str Cafe. It is run by 2 Brits and their wives (I think). Their claim to fame is a wood-fired pizza oven. The Goat Cheese special is truly delicious and the beer is cheap ($1 / glass of draft)

Re: Election Civil Disorder
Just arrived in Cambodia 3 days ago, and am a bit out of the loop. Khmer friend and all his friends are big supporters of CNRP. At a coffee shop on Saturday I met two older businessmen who said, albeit in a whisper, that they supported CNRP. Interesting here last night to watch not only the reaction...
