Re: Money Changer
In addition to super rich [link above] here is Siam Exchange, another comparable BKK money change shop near MBK. http://www.siamexchange.co.th/index.php NOTE both of these are for buying baht for cash or selling cash baht to get a foreign currency. They do not take ATM, wires or any other media. Sov...

Money Changer
I want to recommend a friend of mine, Or Savann's shop, an excellent moneychanger 69 & 71 Street 136. He's across from Psar Tamei in the street with many moneychangers and pharmacies. It’s between St. 51 [Pasteur] and 53 St. He does all kind of currencies, including dollar-riel of course, and has al...

Re: Should Western embassy personnel hang out in hostess bar
"Surely the use of stripper names should be discouraged among members of the greatest deliberative body in the world. I think you mean 'most powerful'." "the greatest" phrase is from Catch 22. I was meant satirically [one of the character's (Orr?) father was a Congressman. Don't hold me to it, but i...

Re: Should Western embassy personnel hang out in hostess bar
With no direct intention of dissing his partisans, the Roberto riff about the Ancient Mariner is romantic "greatest generation" tripe. It would take not merely a drunken sailor but one whose accustomed land transport was by the small yellow bus to consider in offense of any kind to resist being scam...

Re: Should Western embassy personnel hang out in hostess bar
"if the Secret Service personnel involved in this scandal had played by the same rules and followed the same ethical standards as the drunken sailors I used to work with, there would have been confrontation, and they might still have their jobs." WELL, from reading up on this matter when it happened...

Re: Should Western embassy personnel hang out in hostess bar
If one has a rag on w Western embassy personnel [remember, not just American as many here have assumed], then by all means tell us why and don't spare the details. Otherwise, nose around in their pants only as far as you would have them nose around in yours.

Re: Looking for an older style hotel/guest house in PP
If you're looking for a building for inspiration rather than to live in, try next to the main post office and in back of the volleyball courts. A fine big stately colonial wreck of a building. pretty much stripped and perhaps waiting a makeover. you might persuade the watchmen to let you spend some ...

"Can I go straight from the Saigon to Sihanoukville or Di have to go through Phnom Penh?"
I was in Saigon oct 2012 and Sorya had one direct ticket Saigon - sville but I think it involved a change of buses en route. Have yr hotel call the various bus companies.

PP to Chau Doc slow boat - is it truly gone?
Several yeas ago I took the small slow boat a few times both ways. I involved a minibus ride of bout 1.5 hrs to a spot on the river and one boat to the VN border and another boat to Chau Doc. Now I only see a $35 fast tour boat. Is the old boat trip dead and gone forever? Say it isn't so.

Re: Bogey and Bacall
"Surely only a troll would ask about bogey and Bacall?"
I posted my question because several years ago i was briefly involved, naively it appears, w. his effort to hand out food at the dump. I cam back to pp and found him and his bar gone.
Do restrain your inclination to make comments of this kind.
