Re: Temporary admission for a car
there many cars/bikes entering Thailand without the required advance permission/permits/guides etc. Than again some are being refused.. its a crapshoot. Otherwise just show up, bring ur ownership book/papers in YOUR name, exit Cambodia, enter thailand, fill out the required paperwork at customs, ge...

Re: Prime minister HE wants Peace Corps out
Don't forget World Vision,USAID,Winrock,Golden West,WildAid,and NRI. Winrock. Those bastards. A few years back there was a project in Myanmar and my company was invited to bid on the project. Since it was a USAID/Winrock funded activity there were a number of stipulations. They said equipment must ...

Re: Flying one-way to Thailand
land borders for me. Is it still a limit of two entries per year to Thailand when you used land borders? That could be one reason for "flying in". two entries per calendar year by land unless you have a pre-issued visa from the embassy , currently i wouldnt even push more than two entries by either...

Re: Temporary admission for a car
Are you referring to a Cambodian car? If so, the process is very straightforward, but I think you should consider using only O'Smach or Koh Kong for entry into Thailand as Thai cars going the other way can only easily use these crossings so I can't imagine Thai customs would be lenient enough to all...

Re: 3rd party liability insurance with Vietnamese card / plate
Thanks. It is actually what I was thinking to do. So few more questions: Want a chinese win? :D Good price for you! More seriously: even if under 125cc I need a Cambodian license? For the insurance? I am going to stay for at least 9 months in Cambodia, however I am with tourist visa. Can i get a Ca...

Been a dodger in the past. Not that many times admittedly and not at all in the past 3 years. The boys in blue have either been more relaxed or I have been better behaved. Did a runner once on my first trip to PP as it was going to be the third time I was stopped on the same morning and I was begin...

Re: Hiring a car - self drive
Sorry just to add a few more details. If as the other posters have stated, it is no longer possible to rent a car in Cambodia without a local driver's license (although AVIS Cambodia for example has always been able to facilitate this process) then this may add some difficulties to your quest. I don...

Re: Hiring a car - self drive
Being able to read Thai numbers will certainly be of much more use in Cambodia than French - Thai and Cambodian numbers are written the same way, except they are pronounced differently. Also, many words from Sanskrit/Pali are shared among the two languages. This is because Thai has many loan words f...

^ This ^ This has been discussed several times. These new-builds are not aimed at western expats, but rather Chinese investors who will never live in them but use them as a vehicle to access USD. How does having empty condos in the capital of another Asian country help them to access USD? Chinese p...

Re: Reports of major change to visa laws imminent
Is having to leave the country every ninety days and then promptly return going to be a deal breaker for a lot of people? It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if you're permitted indefinite visa runs. I wonder if continuous back to back visa runs will be tolerated, however. Having dual citizenship/...

Re: Best place for car paint repairs in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap
Thanks to both of you. The work in question is very minor, a couple of deep scratches I'd finally like to get painted new. Even if only Khmer speaking that's OK, should be quite self-explanatory work.
