Medical marijuana in Cambodia?
Ok, so marijuana is "semi-legal" in Cambodia given locals are allowed to grow a few plants for cooking in Khmer cuisine. Would the law makers here ever consider decriminalising the substance altogether?
The weed industry in the US is still very much in its infancy however also starting to spread to other countries. I trade pot stocks on the US market (mostly pinkies) and there is supposedly an IPO launch on the ASX on 22 Dec (but now TBA). Revenue possibilities for this country far outweigh the current bribe money if caught for possession as it would assist with much needed infrastructure, healthcare etc, or would this be placed in the "too hard" basket?
Personally I don't care if used for medicinal or recreational purposes (not a pothead myself), but surely some ganjapreneurs would jump at the chance to get something started here. There are worse investments to be had in this country after all.

I enjoyed this short documentary on hemp, some good footage. Also it has a bit of a French focus at one point interesting for Joon perhaps.johnnyj wrote:Thing I find amazing about weed, is far from the mind-altering affects it can produce,
Its a fast growing hardy crop that produces great natural fibres and is fantastic from a carbon footprint standpoint as it grows so fast.

A humongous dollop of apathy could work wonders for the Khmer vs Youn issues and anger towards the endemic corruption.
Plus it might give the economy a boost with the corresponding huge rise in sales of snacks. Immigration could get more revenue from overstays aswell?

AFAIK weed was pefectly legal in Cambodia, until the Americans threatened to withdraw aid unless it was made illegal. I only know this from chatting to people in pubs, perhaps someone can confirm, this either way. I do know that there used to be a weed stall in the Russian market where you coiuld buy whatever you wanted to.
Prohibition doesn't work, this have been proven time and time again, the only thing it does do is breed organised crime, this again has been proven time and time again. I have no idea why most countries still spend billions and billions on trying to enforce it.

Indeed, hemp is one of the most useful substances on Earth, the British navy used it for its ropes back when we had a navy for example. You can use it for clothing, biodiesel, ropes, food and it is even used in construction.
In't prohibition brilliiant hey.

There is a bit of a misunderstanding there. It is actually illegal, and the use of marijuana in home cooking has almost disappeared. That is not to say that the commercial cultivation of the plant doesn't go on. Decriminalizing would mean that anyone could grow or sell it, which would result in a huge reduction in profit for those who are allowed to do so. Don't even dream of stepping on these people's toes.flanostu wrote:Ok, so marijuana is "semi-legal" in Cambodia given locals are allowed to grow a few plants for cooking in Khmer cuisine. Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Canabis in the short run used on a daily basis for any purpose , reduces the size of ones grey matter (If you have any ) but initially improves the connectivity of info cells , however ' Wait for it ' over time this effect reverses and you are a worse C!!!!! than when you started .
Possibly, it also leads to a lot of creativity and it's side effects pale in comparison to those of alcohol.marksman wrote:Canabis in the short run used on a daily basis for any purpose , reduces the size of ones grey matter (If you have any ) but initially improves the connectivity of info cells , however ' Wait for it ' over time this effect reverses and you are a worse C!!!!! than when you started .
The effects of prohibition however are far more severe, billions and billions of dollars wasted and thousands and tthousands of deaths. I believe the battle for control of the US market for marijuama costs around 20,000 Mexican lives per year alone..
Obviously I wouldn't know about anything that's illegal, but these pictures from WMP show that 51 gangs in and around Birmingham definitely know how to do it (and get caught). Vietnamese gangs were pretty involved a few years back, don't know if the demographics of organised crime have changed now.

One thing i don't get about wacky backy in the Kingdom of Wonder is - if the have as good as legal Happy Pizza places here, why dont they have Happy Bakeries aswell? Cookies, quiche, or even a Happy Butchers with happy sausages.
Is there a niche for some happy quiche?

What a colossal waste of resources for everyone concerned. Did it make a blind bit of difference to the supply of marijuana in Birmingham? I seriously doubt it, maybe an extra quid on a teenth.pedros wrote:Obviously I wouldn't know about anything that's illegal, but these pictures from WMP show that 51 gangs in and around Birmingham definitely know how to do it (and get caught). I rarely smoke the stuff myself and thankfully I no longer live in the UK so none of my tax money is being pissed up the wall by the iditotic 'War on Drugs'.

Agree, and why stop there. Weed infused ice cream, weed infused wine & similar products are gaining momentum elsewhere. Big niche here. But as LL said "semi-legal" isn't correctly understood, which begs the question why do we have a happy pizza and a weed infused shake to quench your thirst? Maybe Happy Pizza is listed as "therapeutic" under the business purpose.spitthedog wrote:One thing i don't get about wacky backy in the Kingdom of Wonder is - if the have as good as legal Happy Pizza places here, why dont they have Happy Bakeries aswell?
