Maybe you should google "post-traumatic stress disorder", "panic disorder" and "chronic insomnia". And how they are treated.

Every empty bottle is my private crystal ball
Where I gaze into the future
And find nothing there at all.
Where I gaze into the future
And find nothing there at all.

Well, there's a related piece in today's Cambodia Daily. It says they are going to restrict access to certain drugs that are used in the manufacture of illegal drugs. They are talking mainly about ephedrine, a content in many cold relief medicines, which is used in making Yama and Crystal Meth. No mention of tranquilizers, but I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to kill a few birds with one stone. There will doubtless, still be ways around this if it happens.
Who Gives a Fuck?
Restricting ephedrine sales is kinda understandable, but nothing above a kitchen lab producing redneck-quality crank would start from pills. The actual big labs producing crystal/ice (and on an industrial scale) buy pure ephedrine on the black/grey market.hanky wrote:Well, there's a related piece in today's Cambodia Daily. Way ahead of you. Since about a year ago, there is about half a planet separating me from many of the causes. The rest is something I'm trying to work on, on a constant basis.eight wrote:A wise man would tackle the cause of the problem, then he would not have to worry about tackling the result.
Uhm, no, I haven't been in the military (Sweden doesn't have much of one anyways. A few troops in Afghanistan is the closest to actual battle it have been for many years).wonasler wrote:Agrippa, were you in tne military before (in Sweden)? Saw photos of the four of you during your trial a year or so ago, believe I distinguished who you were, but none of you looked old enough to have things like ptsd.
But uhm, there are other causes than trauma from combat for PTSD.
If I say that the total TPB circus represents about 10% of what I've been through, maybe you can kinda imagine the scale of the rest? Just because I primarily appear as a computer geek doesn't mean that I haven't been through some nasty shit.
Some small hints: Ever experienced a kidnapping? Police abuse?
And I'm not even the one of the TPB guys with the worst stories to tell.
Tried it both with and without money changing hands. A temporary fix at most and too boring to be worth pursuing.logos wrote: Have you tried getting laid ?
100% natural and no side effects
(well it depends, as it can be addictive and nastier than valium if you somehow get involved with the remedy).
And I'd rate it far more dangerous than benzodiazepines.

M’kay, kids, you shouldn’t do drugs, m’kay, drugs are bad. You see, I was at the bottom of the barrel, I was a wreck. Why, I didn’t even care about money. I was wasting my life… You boys need to listen up, m’kay, what I’m talking about might save your life some day… Drugs are bad. You shouldn’t do drugs. If you do them, you’re bad, because drugs are bad. It’s a bad thing to do drugs, so don’t be bad by doing drugs, m’kay, that’d be bad.

I fear Agrippa could well be correct in his initial prognosis. Two pharmacies I stopped by at this evening were all out of xanex and at the third a very amenable Khmer lady (une femme d'une certaine age) with excellent English put me in the picture by saying that the ministry were currently making it extremely difficult for pharmacies to stock that particular drug. She had strips of 0.5 in stock at $4 for ten tablets and apologized for the price having increased, the vagaries of supply and demand being what they are etc etc, she added with the famous Gallic shrug which usually means 'it's not my fault.'
Twitter: Not my circus, not my monkeys - I sold #K440
For agrippa and the others who need the heavy stuff, I wonder have you tried using melatonin? Like you guys I've been through some shit in my life, although not quite as much as you described, but anyhow I find melatonin does give me that extra grogginess an hour after I take it, and makes me more sensitive to light in the morning. I'm also a coffeeholic however recently have had to piss all damn day so now no coffee for me.
Oh yah, I'm not sure how heavy xanax and valium are, but at MBK in Bangkok, like third floor, there is a sort of black market of vitamins and MANY other kinds of supplements there, but once you buy there's no after-sales service. The shops are in the middle of the floor. Maybe they won't have the hard stuff, but I wonder if they would 'know someone.'

wonasler - Melatonin might be a good sleeping aid, but difficulty falling asleep isn't exactly my primary mental issue...
Ironically, when doing a quick tour of some pharmacies checking for alprazolam (and comments about it), I ended up buying some bromazepam.
Now that's some heavy shit. In many civilized countries it has been discontinued. I fell asleep right after taking one tab... and it seems to be a good anxiolytic too.
Ironic what some messing with the market causes, eh? It'd be like banning codeine and then ending up with pharmacies selling morphine instead (OK, not on the same scale, but you get it...).
OK, so here is my potential take on what's going on:
Somehow importing this ind of drugs has become more difficult (but there doesn't seem to be any shortage of diazepam why?). Maybe paperwork (probably of the kind with dead American presidents on them) has gotten harder etc. Might have to do with stricter control of ephedrine like has already been said.
So maybe one supplier, name and size so far unknown, are informing their pharmacies that because of this, it's no longer worth the hassle for them. These medications are cheap but heavily marked up by the pharmacies, so it'd be a logical that a supplier simply makes the business decision to get out of that particular business segment..
I think (or maybe I'm only been an optimist here) that this won't be permanent (well, is there anything permanent in Cambodia?), but maybe alprazolam might get quite difficult to get ahold of for some while before a Cambodian company starts manufacturing alprazolam pills. I don't remember if the generics I had before were Cambodian or not. Might have been from a neighboring country.
And market-wise, there doesn't seem to be any sign of Valium/diazepam going away, although generics seem to be getting a lot more common. The only thing that would point to diazepam going is those comments from pharmacists. And both says it's because of their supplier, not because of a personal order from Hun Sen...
I've had exactly the same thing (sorry, but supplier has stopped carrying it, etc) with a highly special medication (it's approved for use in treating Parkinson's diseases, but it's amongst other things an excellent antidepressant) with zero potential for abuse. It'd be very understandable that such a rare drug becomes totally unavailable because of supplier issues, but I can't see the same thing happening with such widely used (and prescribed!) drugs as Valium and Xanax.
We don't even have any idea what the root cause is here. There doesn't seem to be any order from the top. Might even be that the problem is at the EUROPEAN side of the supply chain.
Recently there have been a lot of crackdowns on "Internet pharmacies" in Europe with serveral big busts - maybe this is connected? No one would be surprised if a lot of what's exported from Europe is diverted to huge illegal pharma ops.
There is already Cambdian-manufactured diazepam tabs so they can just setup manufacturing of alprazolamtabs as well. If someone hasn't already.
Or maybe I'm being all too optimistic and my life is about to become quite a bit more difficult...
Anyone happen to know anything about the Cambodian pharmaceutical market and the number of suppliers/importers/etc?

Which pharmacy was this?Banker wrote:I spoke with the Owner of the Pharmacy I deal with in PP & she informs NO MORE Valium,Xanax, Sleeping Pills of any kind will be supplied in the future she has received her last supplies.
By the way, one thing that might be helpful when trying to put some sense into this is the fact that alprazolam is widely considered have among the highest abuse potential of all benzodiazepines.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if the source of our problem is in Europe. That would just be incredible. I vote with my feet (well, with my flight ticket) and leave a nanny-welfare-hightax-state. And then what happens? The mentality of ... THE WELFARE STATE! manages to screw with my new, happy life! Argh....
But! Maybe this means there's now a market segment for someone who has the proper connections, can get all the needed licensing etc. Just purchase a pill press and hire some people who know how to use it. You'd basically be turning rocks into gold. Pure alprazolam sells for about $300/kg on the international market and a box of 3x10x0.5mg for $10 (a bit too high, but lets use even numbers) works out to a price per kilogram of about $66000! I definitely see the potential in that business.
Hell - you wouldn't even need a pill press (they are quite expensive and it takes lots of experimentation to get proper pills). You could use gel-caps. Who's gonna complain as long as the dosage is quite evenly distributed?
Note that I might have done some dumb calculation errors, as my brain turns on around 10 or so.
If you steal/borrow this idea, please give me free alprazolam for life.
