This building on Norodom is so truly vile that it makes me want to stop being a libertarian and go back to being a Trotskyist class war warrior again. They've been building it for 5 years. Ostentatious, us?

A reflective glass fuck up where there was once a fairly decent and solid classic building.

Firstly, it is a she not a he.Chase wrote:What do yall think of the monstrosity of a home being built off of norodom near the independence monument. I know the contractor and he says that it is owned by the owner of tiger beer here and that it has taken the past 6 years to build because the owner keeps changing his mind. Not only is it ugly it is almost solid concrete and will last for at least the next 150 years.
Actually, she owns only 20% of the brewery just in Cambodia, not the international company, she also owns a bank here, an import-export trading company, gold and gemstones import business and several other businesses.
The reason that it has taken so long is due to the fact she had some cash-flow issues after buying a 5 Star Hotel in Hong Kong with a bridging loan, and then the worlds economy went - oops !
She is also one of the closest friends of Mrs Cyclops and at least 16 of the 24 distributors of Tiger Beer in Cambodia are related to her…
Still, a fucking monstrosity of a house !?!!?

It's time to resurrect this doozy of a thread and celebrate, six years after the last thread, the latest additions to grotesquely horrific carbuncles masquerading as buildings in Phnom Penh.
This wonderful thing - courtesy of gavinmac - is right opposite Freebird on 240. Who the fuckity fuck would buy an apartment in a building as mind-numbingly ugly as this? It looks like a 1970s version of those plastic trays that you stack your washed dinner plates on by the kitchen sink.

I quite like that new Ministry of the Environment HQ.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

I kinda like it. At least they're making the effort to design something interesting rather than some generic pastiche style.scobienz wrote:This wonderful thing - courtesy of gavinmac - is right opposite Freebird on 240.
C'mere c'meye
Your forgetting Scobienz comes from a council estate. He likes generic pastiche, that's why he loves Cambodia so much. It reminds him of Toxteth.ali baba wrote:I kinda like it.
