Is it really the second death in their pool, or did the Khmer press get that wrong?
Doesn't every bar in Cambodia allow tourists to get shitfaced drunk if they want? I've never seen anyone get cut off. It's one of the things I like about the country.

Oddly enough, the PPP has his age at 38. The local newspapers are usually only off by a year.gavinmac wrote:Well, his name was already in the article. They just got the order wrong, calling him "Dillon Andrew Ryan." The local press always uses three names and gets the order wrong whenever they identify a foreigner. Even the Phnom Penh Post reported it as the death of "Dillon Ryan Andrew." You think they would know better.

The first incident could be what Ken Svay was talking about:gavinmac wrote:Is it really the second death in their pool, or did the Khmer press get that wrong?
ken svay wrote:Utopia was where the last aussie sailor disgraced himself by diving into the empty pool, that pool was empty for a long time.
He survived the smashed skull but was invited to leave the navy after the drug tests.

No probs with allowing the dude to get shitfaced, but they should have had someone keeping an eye on the pool.

Ah, that makes sense. He was coming to correct the reporting errors... I didn't catch that....gavinmac wrote:Well, his name was already in the article. For the record his name was Ryan Andrew Dillon and he was 33 years old and from Scotland not England. So please enough with the sick comments and jokes because if I can find this page so can his family and reading some of the comments left will upset them far more at what is a tragic, difficult time for them and that's really the last thing they need right now.

The Post identifies Utopia as "foreign owned." No mention of the prior death.

Yeah, I've only been cut off once in my life, and it definitely wasn't anywhere in Cambodia.
People just need to realize this is still a developing country and uneed to look after yourself here whether u're a tourist or a seasoned expat.

I have been waaaaaaaaaaaay beyond piss drunk at this place more than once, always had a great time. But this is Camfusionodia and you got to keep your shit together on your own.
I love the place, but you really have to watch your ass, as the pools and angry ladyboys could snuff your shit with rapidity.

.
Spot on. As with anywhere really, but more so in some countries and Cambodia is one of those countries.

Condolences to the family.
I like that about this place, but I suspect many visitors from the west don't realise it... or only "know" it at an intellectual level and don't adjust their behaviour accordingly. Given the options of anything goes, some do exactly that.this is Camfusionodia and you got to keep your shit together on your own.

Yeah-I'm sure his family are reading K440 as we speak,to check what forum users are saying
stains cant imagine that someone may actually care for the guy, seeing as nobody ever loved stains.

Yep, page one on Google for Ryan Andrew Dillon, so it's likely this will come to the attention of family and friends. Anyone UK based should be aware that two people have been jailed in the last year or so for mocking the deceased via the net:cambod wrote:Sorry for ur loss, but I assume u are trying to make this thread even easier for his family and friends to find by typing his full name, age and nationality in it?

That's pretty ridiculous IMO. Whilst I niether condone nor understand why someone would want to do that the internet is one of the last outlets for free speech.barangdave wrote:Yep, page one on Google for Ryan Andrew Dillon, so it's likely this will come to the attention of family and friends. Reminds me of the kid they tried to go after in the US because she taunted a girl so bad that she thought it pudent to top herself.
