The claim about the abduction and subsequent horrors has been going the rounds for some time now - as a good fund-raisng tear-jerker should.
It was recounted aloud at a Meta House gathering.
Getting it related aloud by in New York by none other than Banky Moony puts it in the class of Tale Tales of All Times.
But then again the U.N. is a forum for tall tales. Remember the barefoot Guatemalan peasant squaw who won a Nobel?

These stories aren't just tear-jerking appeals for funds. The abduction story, her most recent tall tale to the UN, as well as certain earlier claims were responses to the highly embarrassing 2004 incident in which the women Afesip had 'rescued' escaped their saviors and protested against Afesip. It was not only a huge loss of face, but the point the escaped women were making is a direct threat to part of the core theory behind Afesip. These emotive stories are meant to obscure that discussion.brighteyed wrote:The claim about the abduction and subsequent horrors has been going the rounds for some time now - as a good fund-raisng tear-jerker should.
"Well, if one reads the quote it does not say that the army killed the girls. It says that the army "Go to the center and take the girls out and eight of them have been killed"
The first thin that strikes me is a certain legerdemain in the popular interpretation. This quote could very easily be interpreted as (since the girls were removed from the center (in this case by the army) the result is that eight of them have been killed) Nothing in her statement implies that the army did the killing--the first impression I get (immediately when I read the quote) is that (to repeat myself) the removal of the girls from the center ultimately resulted in their deaths. It is a tricky business to attempt to argue , or interpret, intent. Honestly, I do not see any deception in the quote--again--we can argue intent all day long but the wording gives it away--she never said that the army killed the girls. Saying she lied (based on the quote) is not defensible.
Her ex, Mr Legros is quoted as saying the following "No one has been killed in that story" then later he is quoted as saying "I never heard anyone has been killed" so--which is it? here we have two quotes by Mr Legros--one of certainty followed by one of uncertainty--he can't have it both ways. Either no one was killed OR he has not heard of anyone being killed--two radically different accounts. The first asserts a position with eye witness authority and the second makes the assumption that basically says "What I didn't hear about didn't happen"
This is why none of these propositions would ever hold up in a court of law. We should think clearly before asserting truth based on interpretation."

Shasta you called that one. Let's give some credit to your wife. Her input into this saga first caused me to really question Somaly.
I am glad that you are still around - You were always a person with insight on the issues and didn't feel the need to embellish the facts.

If I knew for certain that a person was coming to my house with the intent of doing me good, I would run for my life HDT

I PMed Shasta 2 years ago when I was new here, was still a bit doubtful of his replies so I gathered the info and emailed her through google search. No response. I still read and observed from sources and conclude that she is fucking scam artist, using stories from sex trafficked victims to gain wealth.
She and Lueng Ong are of the same breed.

Not at all, the way I read it was that eight soldiers were killed by the girls.Nothing in her statement implies that the army did the killing
