Re: SunSan has passed awayAfter taking some time to understand the meaning of this post I have to say:
Henning - I'll miss you, In real life you were a staunch guy. Luv'ed ya heaps. Kev. I'm guessing his wife might be in a land of hurt at the moment, If you guys in country can assist, please do so. You have my respect and admiration - Kev Enjoy life cos you only get one chance at it.
Re: SunSan has passed awayPass across peacefully, gentle soul. Your grace, generosity and affable personality resound throughout eternity. Many owe you a huge debt of gratitude. Those who never met you wish they had. Pass peacefully.
I was sad because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet
Re: SunSan has passed away
I'm still struggling with this news, but KL's words do ease my worries, Rest In Piece Henny. You were a kind soul and always a gentleman. Enjoy life cos you only get one chance at it.
Re: SunSan has passed awayThanks for all the condolences. I think, if some of you could add one or two anecdotes, as KiR has done, I'll put this thread in a link when I email his sister; that way his family will have a portrait of Henning and how he was regarded by the community here.
Re: SunSan has passed awayso sad, RIP, Henning. Henning was a great guy- we will miss him and his ever helpful posts terribly. on Kh 440, and many other sites too
Re: SunSan has passed away
I know he was very active and helpful on Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree site - maybe someone who has an account can post something there, and any other tourism sites you know he posted on.
Re: SunSan has passed awayKnew him on a couple of other boards as well as this - TOA and LPTT.
Terrible news. Don't know what to say. At a loss for words. RIP Henning.

Done...... Enjoy life cos you only get one chance at it.
Re: SunSan has passed awayDammit. Henning was a great guy. A real pleasure to know, a man who got on with anyone he met, regardless of their background. A bon vivant with a great love of food, drink and pleasant conversation. Very sad. Rest in Peace, my friend.
Re: SunSan has passed awaySunSan/Henning helped me retrieve and store some things that I had left behind in Cambodia. He didn't have to help, but he did simply because he could. He was good at helping people, like with taking the effort to find an effective means of delivering aid to rural villages that weren't being helped any other way during the major flooding.
Poor Scoffer won't have anyone to abuse about food porn now. A good man who will definitely be missed and will be remembered with affection by many. I owed him a drink and a meal... it will have to wait for another lifetime now. x I'm outdoorsy in that I like getting drunk on patios.

Re: SunSan has passed awayOne anecdote: In eight years of boat cruises, Henning was the only one to decide to jump in the river. No announcement, discussion of the pros and cons, he just stripped off his shirt and jumped in. An adventurous spirit.

Re: SunSan has passed awayI remember when I had the idea of writing an article - 'The K440 Minimarket Challenge': the idea being that a bunch of us would descend on a well stocked minimart one Saturday afternoon and drink one each of every alcoholic drink they kept in their fridges and simultaneously, as a group, review each and every beer, lager and stout.
First name on the teamsheet was, of course, Henning and I recall that even as the event fell into total disarray as one by one we all got ridiculously drunk and slid under the table, Henning kept his head held high and took meticulous tasting notes. After drinking us under the table, he then scooped us all up off the floor, put us in his car and took us for a burger at the old Lone Star. What a trooper. the semi official 440 Twitter site
