Just curious;
when u went back to Europe for school, how did u find the kids there?
My daughter grew up here in Thailand at international schools an is now studying in the states, an tells me how immature an young all the kids she meets are.
Well, my situation was a bit different I guess. I was admitted into SciencesPo's Euro-Asia campus, where more than 50% of students are from Asia, and around 30% are westerners who grew up abroad. Lots of Americans, too. We did have things in common. Trouble was that they were all complete nerds, who lived and breathed for good grades - quite boring, really. If anything, they were too serious. I think social sciences nerds lack the spark that many scientific (math, physics, engineering, etc...) students have.
As for "regular" people you meet outside of school, there's no way they could relate to what it's like to grow up in a place like Cambodia anyway, so of course it can be hard to create a connection.
