I like Ganzberg Beer, because it smells great
I worked in high end post production for advertising agencies on the West Coast for many years. Looking at locally produced ads here, seems like made by a small group of people, everything looks and sounds the same, same talent selling various products, apart from being fairly upbeat, I find the execution mostly a bit corny and odd. My friend in Bangkok does a bit work for agencies in SEA, and he warned me about people's tastes and aesthetic values here are far apart from the West and that it can be hard to make a case for a different approach towards creative direction. I am not saying it was easy back home, always having to change things around hours before deadline due to customers indecision, infighting, boardroom shenanigans etc.

Oh dear, endless discussion about that. Just had to follow clients wishes. It's sort of pleasant, but there's a major fail when the airplane crashes into the logo towards the end. Not exactly how to inspire consumer confidence.
I even hate the empty cockpit more, they want it.
Its a terrible ad alright, are they chasing the gay wedding market? Beer ads can be some of the best ads, I dont know why but this lets the side down.
Whaddaya mean you don't know why? Don't you think the guy who made that ad deserves a DB?ken svay wrote:Its a terrible ad alright, are they chasing the gay wedding market? Beer ads can be some of the best ads, I dont know why but this lets the side down.
Jeez, I bet getting that ad made was like pulling teeth.
But the actors look like they had fun with plenty of good lines to work with.
"I like Ganzberg beer, because I can drink as much as I want, the more I drink it, the better it tastes" is a pearler. The guy is obviously getting paid in beer, but he wasn't sure he liked it until he finished the first slab.
"I like Ganzberg because it tastes smooth, and it's easy to drink more." Water.
"It truly is German... quality beer." This guy sounds either like he's already drunk a few cans, and can't read the prompter (has some eyeliner on his eyeballs) or he can't lie straight....."It tastes like it does at home" (He has a couple of boxes of Ganzberg in his fridge at home)
"It smells great and has the value of richness". Is this guy an Aussie?
What nationalities are in the mix. An American, 2 Aussies, and a Frenchman?
Pity they couldn't make room for these two in the final cut.
About 4 or 5 months ago, a sales rep from Ganzberg came around promoting the beer. He was on a moto, and he had two sample cans with him. When I asked if he was going to leave them with us, he said he needed to take them with him to show the next restaurant.
Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.
My absolute rofl moment. "..truly is German...uh.....quality beer....?"MoodyMac wrote: "It truly is German... quality beer." Really though, I was curious if they were actually supposed to be Germans or what? If they were, ouch, even I could tell they weren't Germans and I've never been to Germany and English is not my best language.

Time to clarify a few things. When I saw the advert first I find it so unbelievable that I never, never thought a real Beer will come out one Day on that Strategy "As more I Drink, as better I smell ..." I thought its kind of "Guerrilla Marketing" for something else. Then I saw the the first Trucks on the Road and the first people, who met the German "Brew master. Ok, there is nothing in that Beer which is German then the poor, German Brew-master, not even the Name makes any sense in German and It doesn't even exist outside Cambodia. The owners are KH/Chin and for the prices I hear, there cannot even be real, natural Ingredients in it and sure, nothing imported from Europe. They Target Khmer and with this pricing, I guess they will do it, but with this commercials ... hardly in the Barang Zone ...

The name of the brewmaster who set up the brewery from Zero day is Bernd Kirsch, he is German and he really win 5 medals in brewing.Bernhardow wrote:Time to clarify a few things.
It's not a question where you brew it, its a question who is brewing it. Most of their production equipment is imported from Germany.
However the beer does not comply with German purity law. Not a big deal. I worked with Bernd and sometimes he really got nuts with the guys, same me.
If he is leaving, we will get the Kingdom effect.
Ganzberg is running a Marketing campaign now where they promise with ring pull to win a 100 cars and a 100 motorbikes that does not exist!
They run a foolish game. Yeap, Cambodians run for the boxes now with hope.
I'm glad I'm not working for them anymore.
This is monkey business.

I dont believe that they use German equipment, its to cheap, same with ingredients. I think Mr. Kirsch is a nice guy and I believe that he won his medals.Theodor Symon wrote:The name of the brewmaster who set up the brewery from Zero day is Bernd Kirsch, he is German and he really win 5 medals in brewing.Bernhardow wrote:Time to clarify a few things.

But the whole Marketing Campaign is made up the Way ITS GERMAN BEER and we import it or at least, it exist in Germany too. Thats what every Khmer thinks and many Barang too. In civilized countries it would be MISLEADING CONSUMERS ... but in fact I dont care I had my Fun with it already/
Actually the medals they have won is from a purchasable award company. You pay 1150 EUR and is pretty much guaranteed to get some medal. So basically a scam to get money to this company and for the awarded company to advertise their medals to consumers who think those medals means something.

The general rule about beers is that if the beer advertise that it has won awards on the bottle it is a shitty beer. Usually this type of beers will also label itself as "Premium beer".

Ganzberg is the one of the greatest Euro-Peein beers in the world, a true bastion of high status taste, scent and foaminess.
As stated by someone greater than me, truth is the first casualty of war.
If McDonalds can toss in the entire cow's innards and say, "100% pure beef", then, fuckit - the makers of this truly great beer can state proudly that it's made in Germany, even if the tin shed in Battambang they manufacture it in, has a sign above it that says, "Germany".

Like someone else posted Ganzberg has a competition where they are giving away 100 cars. Obviously a scam. Here you can see some of the people involved in this scam. Name and shame anyone?
