The problem is that none of those organizations are NGOs.Jehovah's Bystander wrote:bikku wrote:

Missed out on that NGO job, eh?

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
the problem is people has been told since birth that the UN are the "good guys", and that's the root of all evils.Lucky Lucan wrote: The problem is that none of those organizations are NGOs.
the other problem is nobody is skeptic about what they've been told.

When you have the solution to world peace and ending poverty, be sure to let us know, won't you?
There are also a large number of religious crazies, "rescuers" and assorted do-gooders in the lower end of the NGO gene pool, I will agree, and they are especially attracted to some of the anti-trafficking organisations.
But some of the most skeptical people I know work in the broader field of international development. This is mainly because outside observers (primarily politicians, non-professionals and academics) are busy imposing their particular ideologies, both right and left wing, rather than looking for solutions that work.
Your cynicism is also an ideological position, in case you were wondering.

" The Dude abides."
what the NGOs are claiming to do is just not sustainable in the long run, it's a drop in the ocean but they make it look like without them the whole country would crumble .. bullshit ..
in 20 years from now the population will double, how are they planning to cope with that ? millions of people will have no jobs and no land to farm along with no skills and no money and barely able to read or write.
obvious solution, they will have to work illegally in thailand or laos or vietnam.
the others will sponge on whoever will offer any sort of help or part time job.
