Don't you think it's just a little bit morbid to want to have a look at a dead persons Facebook page.

Sorry, I did not mean to suggest that the deceased's passing was in any way related to the type of visa he held. My question was more along the lines of whether there exists some threshold of number of news worthy stories that involve barangs operating outside what the immigration dept would consider copacetic, above which the government is forced into action. It's not too outlandish to think that with every story the papers publish that involves someone working on a tourist visa, the immigration department is pushed, however small and incrementally, further in the direction of eventually conducting some visa crackdown the way Thailand did a decade ago or thereabouts.Pisces wrote:Unfortunately whatever type of visa he held wouldn't have made any difference to the sad outcome, and the reasons for not having a business visa were probably only known to Mike himself.
But the above has nothing to do with the sad ending of someone's life before he was at an age to even realize the potential he might have had. I simply can never understand the choice of suicide, except perhaps in cases of great physical pain and of course mental disease. I guess those of us who can not understand such choiches should be thankful for a relatively positive view on life.
If you are in a bar in PP, and some drunk punter saddles up next to you with all manner of woeful stories and allusions to possibly ending it all to ease the pain, what is the right course of action? I suspect buying him another pint of lager would not be helpful, though it's probably what most people would do?
RIP. I liked the link LTO shared. While I thought it was wrong about a lot things, it also nailed a lot of things too, like the dangers of having no family here and why it's not a good idea to come out here if you don't ALREADY have your shit together. I didn't know him, but it looks like have a few friends common around town.
If you're referring to the girl that's tagged him AND 50+ people in some of her posts on his wall, that is not his girlfriend.PSD_Kiwi wrote:Judging from the all the crazy posts his girlfriend was writing on his wall, his suicide may have had more to do than with just his being unemployed.BURLESQUE@SDHHOTEL wrote:Think this is him https://www.facebook.com/michael.mccann.35728

First of all, I'm very saddened to hear of such a waste of a young man's life. I shouldn't speculate, but if there was a quarrel about finances, I doubt very much that she went to play video games afterwards. Are there even places you can do that in the late hours? My guess is that she threatened to get some money by alternate methods which she may have been good at. After her not turning up for a few hours, with alcohol thrown into the mixture, he grew so despondent that he went ahead and killed himself. Just a theory, but RIP.She stated that on the day of the incident (would be the 9th of November) she and the British man had gone to eat out at the Soriya Mall, where a quarrel broke out because of his unemployment and no money coming in. A quarrel broke out because of his unemployment and no money coming in. The British man then immediately returned home while she stayed on to play video games until past midnight before returning home.

Nothing to do with loony a girlfriend. Poor lad had been going downhill for a while, and the loss of his job appeared to be the final straw.johnnyj wrote:No bloke should end it over a Looney bird. That's very true. Chances are that we've all bought the local drunks a beer, patted them on the head, and listened disinterestedly to their story. It seems like the decent thing to do when somebody is down on their luck but it just makes the problem worse.Capital_9 wrote: If you are in a bar in PP, and some drunk punter saddles up next to you with all manner of woeful stories and allusions to possibly ending it all to ease the pain, what is the right course of action? I remember some years ago when everybody wanted to buy George Best a pint even they new he was an alcoholic.
I think most people who actually talk about suicide, especially to strangers, are just after some attention. People who are serious about topping themselves won't generally let people know what their intentions are, in fact they generally hide the fact that they're depressed pretty well from family and friends.Pisces wrote:That's very true. I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
