Getting a bicycle from PP to Sihanukville
Getting a bicycle from PP to Sihanukville
I'm about to buy a bicycle here in Phnom Penh & thought I'd transport it to Sihanukville with Paramount bus company but looking around today I couldn't find their offices.
Am I looking in the wrong place for Paramount, have they changed their name or do they no longer exist?
Additionally does anyone know of any other bus company that will transport a bicycle?

I imagine many companies will. You can even transport motorcycles this way. I've seen some huge bags go under each selection of buses, a bicycle would be small in comparison.
Give em a call to make sure. I've taken Capitol a couple times because it was right there at O'Russei where I was staying. I imagine they'd be able to take your bike given the relative size of other commercial-sized bags people have put on there. It's also like $5 for a ride to Sihanoukville.

Yeah, I've taken one that way, had to pay about 5$ extra I think, was a few years back mind. Was great just pulling it out and riding off when I got there.
247km, 12 hours ride at 20 k an hour, two days, but t would save you the bus fare
They are on street 102 , very close to riverside . ( Unless they have moved recently )

Thanks for the reply's all.
meik - I generally use Capitol buses (convenient to where I stay) but I've asked them & they say they will not carry a bicycle (unless it's one of the fold up type).
sattroni - Around street 102 was where I was looking today but couldn't see any evidence of their offices.

Just look for a company with a big double decker bus. I paid $10 to transport my scoopy to siem reap (just had to unscrew the mirror during transport). Forgot the company though. I had to go to several.

St. 102 and 3/4 of the way down the block and on the left from the riverside.
Again, many thanks for the replies.
nightmare.believer - Thanks for the directions, I found it (Paramount office) yesterday (missed it the day before because they have a Rith Monay frontage nowadays). They charge $17 to transport me & a bicycle to Sihanukville. $9 for me & $8 for the bike which considering I can get to Snooky for $5 with Capitol, it's actually going to cost me $12 to transport the bike.
vladimir - I've had lots of great experiences traveling in the minibuses in the past but sad to say the body's getting a bit old & weary for them nowadays.

Thanks ricecakes, I did wonder when I'd be subjected to some razor sharp wit. To be fair horace did beat you to it though.
Anyhow in case anyone does a search on this subject I spoke to the owner of Capitol & he will take a bicycle for 15,000 riel provided you can remove the front wheel. So $7.50 for me (New Year price, usually it's $5) & $3.75 for the bike. The staff have told me in the past they can't transport bicycles but I suspect that's just because it's easier to say no than check with their boss.
