Fake Chinese Monk
One of them pushed their money bowl at me a couple of weeks ago. I took out a 1000 riel not from the bowl, put It in my wallet and said thank you fake monk. I see him everywhere and for some reason he now sees me and avoids me.
Cunts. Used to see them all over HK and now they are here.

I hope to Dog that this is true! I'm getting tired of telling them to fuck off! The missus is constantly worried that I'll smash a beer mug across one of their fake-smiling faces. I'm worried I might spill some beer.Playboy wrote:So, rumour has it that the fake Chinese monk that usually begs his trade along the riverfront, St 172, and other tourist areas, was arrested yesterday for snatching a gold bracelet from one of his victims.
Karma.
who buys it anyway? they don't even look like monks.
(I hadn't been following the fake monks situation till last week when one approached us while we were having drinks on the riverside)

There was a clamp down on them in HK a year or so ago, following an expose in the media there. I definitely remember the one on 172 wandering around Wanchai before.Jalladin wrote:Scobie is right,,, now they are here because they fly here on their private jets with LV bag and ipads and iphone.
Have seen naive folks give these rotten monks money believing that they were buying said bracelet. Instead of handing over the bracelet the monk will always hit it once on his dumbass bowl and then once on the dumbass forehead, nod with a stupid convincing smirk as if the victim has somehow gotten value for their money and then walk off. Always gives me a good laugh.
In SR years ago one of these fellas came up and almost demanded payment from me as if I owed him. When I refused to comply he attacked my head with his fingers kind of pushing my face. I almost lost it.

A quick question: does a blessed piece of string from a "real" monk work better than a bless piece of string from a fake one? Is it like a real Rolex versus a counterfeit Polex? If you get into a car accident with a piece of red thread from a "fake monk" hanging from your mirror, can you sue him for selling you false protection? Does it protect from real ghosts or only fake ones?

Well, this guy didn't have any friends with him today. (Taken about 5 minutes ago on street 172)
I've always seen him alone during the day and his older companion will ususally join him hours before the sun sets.General-Z wrote:Well, this guy didn't have any friends with him today.
Damnit, was really hoping it to be this grinning ass having trouble over snatching the whatever...

He's the one I saw in HK regularly.
The South China Morning Post said that either he or one of his colleagues was a qualified doctor from the mainland, bizarrely.
I had a fight with this guy once near the riverside. he came to me all smiling and bowing and pushing his bowl in my face while I was eating. I calmly got up and gestured menacingly toward him and then he turned to leave after glaring at me. I then gave him a light kick in the ass. A "bitch kick" to be honest.General-Z wrote:Well, this guy didn't have any friends with him today. (Taken about 5 minutes ago on street 172)
And it was on. Almost.
The Cham restaurant owner came to back me up and he shuffled off looking back at me whilst shaking his fist. I just laughed heartily.
Maybe next time I will spit on his robe. He should be beaten with a stick - go after this dude with gusto when he approaches you. It's fun!
I love fish and chips with vinegar in newspaper!!!
Thankfully, I have not seen them in Lan Kwai Fong (a bar area in Hong Kong were they usd to be rampant) in many months now. Presumably there was a crackdown?scobienz wrote: Used to see them all over HK and now they are here.
