Spoke on the phone to a khmer girl who knew them both. Said she (the victim) had a Barang boyfriend before getting married to him (the killer). She thought she was crazy for doing that. (switching from Barang to khmer)
Presuming we were on the same wavelength I pointed out the obvious that he was definitely the one in the wrong but then she didn't immediately agree. She said she wasn't bothered he killed her because he also killed himself afterwards as if the romantic side of it made it ok. I'm like "you can't kill someone just cause you're jealous" she's says "I not know what I do when jealous. Someone do to me, I do like that"
so I'm thinking not only does she admire the romantic side of it but she can sympathise with the killer through pure reasoning from her own experiences. It's as if the poor girls life holds less value than the trials and turbulence of everyday life. I'm wondering if it's partly cause Buddhists believe if the afterlife they're not so fussed with death but then there's the undeniable fact that people from all walks of life draw similar conclusions. So now I'm now thinking it's an educational thing. Let's teach them our way of thinking where the science of jealousy and emotion is in constant motion and tomorrow is another day, but only when the pulse is still beating. But when does teaching become preaching?
I finished the call letting her know I was now a little bit more scared of her than I was before not knowing if I was joking or not! One things for sure "wonders will never cease in the kingdom of wonder"
RIP to the victim and RIP to the killer even if I am hoping he comes back as a cockroach!
