Do you know the latest on if Singapore want a Freedom To Marry doc? It doesn't say anything on the website.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
I believe Lonestar registered his overseas marriage here via the MoFAIC, and obtained a Cambodian marriage cert through his local SangkatAndysg wrote:Hi im getting married with my girlfriend.just to check, if i marry her in singapore , can i register the marriage back in cambodia?
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
Indeed I did.
My Khmer wife and I had our wedding in Cambodia nearly 10 years ago, but never made the paperwork. We were legally married in Texas about 4 years ago. As I was approaching 50, I wanted to get the paper work done in Cambodia. I found out that we could just take our Texas marriage license to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, have them sign off on it, and then take it to the local Sangkat and have them sign off...and our Khmer wedding license would be issued. It really sounded too good to be true..........but that is exactly what happened. This is the work around for anyone over 50, and it is also a hell of a lot easier than fulfilling the legal requirements to legally marry in the kingdom.

What are the advantages of registering the marriage in cambodia as ur offically married in the states?
"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear—fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer." HST
How were you able to take her to Texas if you didn't have the Khmer paperwork? Do they allow marriage on a tourist visa in Texas?LoneStar wrote:Indeed I did.

Phuket,
I wanted to be legally married in Cambodia so that I would be as protected as possible in regard to our assets if anything were to happen to my wife. Even though I can't hold title to property...as a legal husband in the Kingdom, I think it would give me more protection in controlling our assets. Also, my thought was in the future that visa laws might tighten up....and I wanted to be as embedded as possible in Cambodia.
My wife was in the U.S. on a tourist visa. The state of Texas does not care what type of visa she has to get married.

Thanks LoneStar, that's extremely useful info in case I ever marry one of them
I know this question has been asked several times but wanted to see if there have been any first hand experiences/ updates in 2018. Is it possible to marry a Khmer girl in Thailand with the provincial(sangkat) single status document?
We both have been living and working in Thailand for 2 years and have wanted to get hitched here. She got her single status document from the province a while back but the embassy wouldn’t stamp it and we sort of gave up for some time and the document expired. We’ve decided to give it another go here in Thailand with the process. But before she travels back to get a new single status document from her province, wanted to check if anyone ever succeeded with just using the provincial document without the embassy stamp?
The whole thing is a bit perplexing, do Khmers not marry in Thailand? I can’t imagine that every single Thai resident has had to adventure across the border to play paperwork with the Khmer Ministry.
