Can anyone tell me which documents you need to get from Cambodia in order to get an 'Affidavit regarding the marital status of the person from the' Cambodian embassy?
This affidavit would then be used to get married as a foreigner in Thailand.

the doc u get from her sangket to marry must be stamped by the government
the embassy in Bangkok wont do it.
Try Singapore

True, raendi wrote:Cambodians can't officially go married outside Kingdom.
MOF will not provide you with the legalized documents your fiancee is not married. Only in countries accepting local documents from the 'sangkat' (probably translated) you stand a chance.
Really what f.... planet are you on. Marriage depends on the rules of the country that you get married in and reside in. Marriages may be recognized by countries outside of the one you were married in but this is not compulsory.raendi wrote:Cambodians can't officially go married outside Kingdom.
Uninformed and unqualified people again giving crap responses. Many Cambodians have married in both Thailand and Singapore, I have seen it myself whilst helping them out with visa applications. BUT there are so many things to meet like residency requirements for one that will set you back a few grand, the troubles you will have with the Cambodian embassy and so on.
A few grand is what it costs here to 'smooth things over'..... Is it worth doing it in Thailand etc?raz wrote:Uninformed and unqualified people again giving crap responses. We don't facilitate marriage or introductions in any country. If getting married for the purpose of satisfying a criteria on a visa application then maybe review your circumstances as you could qualify as a defacto, common law partner or any one of those terms used by various countries. It seems that you Mr. Phuckit seems to negatively comments on my replies.

They don't ask for legalized documents, right, just translated? Same for the USA if I remember well. That way you can work around an unwilling MOF in Cambodia.shadow wrote:Well in Australia

I live in Singapore and I married my Khmer wife here. There was no problem obtaining a marriage license, just went in to MOM and applied with our passports. After we were married, she received here green card here. Then we went to the Cambodian Embassy and had them translate the marriage certificate. My wife used that when she got a new passport in Phnom Penh using her married name to match the name on her green card. But they screwed up the name on the passport. So back to the Embassy where the first secretary wrote in it that her name was as on her green card, signed and stamped it.
The thing I'm not clear about is whether or not Cambodia recognizes the marriage as I was over 50. They certainly haven't given us any grief about it.
