Great find Epidemiks. I had been meaning to write about some of the recent fake looking opinion pieces in the KT and “Pol Peanorin” was one of the aliases. Also prolific fake expat commenter and letter writer “Bruce MacLean”

The Khmer Times is printing plagiarized editorials again. Parts of today's editorial warning that Sam Rainsy is an "extremist demagogue" are plagiarized from a 2017 article that appeared in the New Republic about Donald Trump.
Here is the Khmer Times editorial: https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50643312/t ... am-rainsy/
And here is the 2017 New Republic article: https://newrepublic.com/article/145916/ ... stitutions
And here's a comparison of the plagiarized parts about "extremist demagogues" and the "tragic paradox"
The funny thing is the Khmer Times tinkered with the New Republic article commentary about the need for "political parties" to work together to prevent demagogues from gaining power. That wouldn't make sense when writing about a one party state.

Khmer Times keep popping up on my Facebook feed as a sponsored link, together with many other questionable entities. It's amazing what some companies get away with, if only they are big enough. Back home, plenty of stories about scamming companies using sponsored links on Facebook to gain more 'customers'.
It's a disgrace imho.
It's a disgrace imho.
What’s a disgrace? That Khmer Times pays for ads on Facebooks? It’s hardly a crime.
KT gets away with plagiarism not because it is a large company, but precisely the opposite. It is irrelevant and meaningless and nobody reads it except gavinmac.

TV advertising is heavily regulated, but Facebook can post sponsored links from anything and anyone, bitcoin sellers with celebrities endorsing the product, who never gave their permission, the Russian Mackeeper scammers etc.
And they will gladly take money from anti western Khmer times as well. Guess they really don't care about anything but creating profit for themselves.
That's a disgrace imho, and should be dealt with by new legislation, which is happening back in the homeland this winter afaik. About time.

You're sounding like one of those earnest young chaps who knows what's best for everyone else, and who thinks advertising platforms should only give space to those companies you - or some indeterminate group - believe other people shouldn't see.
Khmer Times has as much right to advertise as anyone, just as you have a right to ignore the ad or even block it.
You seem to be enjoying Khmer440 these days. That's nice. Many expats in Cambodia hate it and wish it nothing but illwill. Should you ban 440 from advertising, on what grounds and whose decision is it?

I support Facebook with 3 current accounts, and K440 with 1 current account.
Currently, both providers offer entertainment value, and it's free, and why I am there.
It's as good as it gets atm.
In a free market, I could not expect anymore.
But the same free market also allows me to file a complaint, if I see any discrepancies that would provoke a personal need for embitterment.
A bit like mr. GM complaining about Khmer Times, a major Facebook advertiser, here.
also, I support K440 for being the Levi's.. not Wrangler.. (cause I hate Wrangler..) a cheap copy
like VHS and betamax fx.. betamax might be gone., but so is VHS.

Next I'll be voting Tory.
ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.
Don't worry. If you do, you will still be able to disagree with me.
I've cut up my conservative party membership card, and won't be voting for them in its current iteration.

The September 4 editorial about Hun Sen's "New Reform Chapter" was lifted from a 2017 article in a Ugandan newspaper "New Vision" about the need to reform the judiciary in Uganda.

Didn't the Khmer Times says they had taken steps to prevent Mohan from plagiarizing again? If so, does that mean the editor in chief is doing the plagiarizing now? Who is the current editor in chief there anyway?

Good find.
I'm looking forward to a double whmohammy when he plagiarizes an article about Filipinas' sexual harassment in the the workplace.

This so-called newspaper is still plagiarizing content, years after they were first found to be doing so.
A July 21 article by someone named Pamela Corda "COVID-19: Business update" writes: "Fiscal and monetary stimulus programmes in both advanced and emerging markets have helped stabilise financial markets and provided temporary relief to companies. However, the operating performance and financing capability of companies are vulnerable to financial market shocks, particularly if a second wave of infection results in renewed lockdowns."

Sounds like an interesting article. Could we have some more information on that? Perhaps start a new thread.
"Goodness me! Now STD free..."
I wouldn't be too surprised if something were in the works
