Is Sharky Bar for sale ?
The AlleyCat and Sharky guys always seemed to be working on maintaining and improving business with new drink and food options to go along with the music. I hope they sell well so their hard work is rewarded.
I never once had Alley Cat food, time to give it a go.

I wonder how Sharky's made the transition from the fun days of yore where customers packed in with girls everywhere, to the version of the past few years where it has tried to be a family oriented music bar. Did the bouncer one day just start refusing entry to the female entrepreneurs?
And did it manage to make any money once it lost its previous version's customer base?

Sometimes changing a venue name can work against you.
Never mind

I guess the lease will become available at the end of this month so someone could just start up a new cafe/bar/club. Assuming the rent isn't crazy high.

I've lost count of the number of times I've seen businesses like Alley Cat for sale for sums like $45,000 only for them to be closed down shortly thereafter. If it was a viable business, it could easily have relocated. Buffalo Sister did that, and they have flourished in their new location.

Alley Cat was cool.
But, has it closed already or is it closing at the years end? Their Facebook page gives the impression they closed after their 11th anniversary the other day.
The business couldn't have been doing terribly. Eleven years supporting two westerners with low rent, decent margins and a quite solid customer base. Plus they advertised quite widely and had a large delivery business.
Somebody was mentioning taxation issues as being the cause of their closure, I don't know.

'Tis shut I'm afraid. One less decent (albeit late) breakfast option in PP.

It's shut but will reopen with a different name and somewhat different menu in January. Dallas will be running it. Mark is heading off for other parts.
In a few years we'll be reminiscing about Sharky bar.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
New name is 'Tacos Kokopelli' according to their FB page...just doesn't have the same ring to it as 'Alley Cat'.Buscador wrote:It's shut but will reopen with a different name and somewhat different menu in January. Dallas will be running it. Mark is heading off for other parts.
Edit to add...soft opening from today.

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
Freelancers are still there, it's just the same 3or4 each time. Went there several times last time in pp and the bar was deserted each time with only several customers. Found myself just staring at the walls. Would not pay 100k for it.
Mike was at least 50% of that 100K price tag.Metal1982 wrote:Freelancers are still there, it's just the same 3or4 each time. Went there several times last time in pp and the bar was deserted each time with only several customers. Found myself just staring at the walls. Would not pay 100k for it.
A lot of people were upset at some of the actions after his death - as evidenced by the exodus of many of the main bands to Oscar's on 104. Its only saving grace just now is Tim's food.
