That guy is a walking heart attack.
Owning a bar in Cambodia ? He'll be dead in 3 years.

Haha - my money’s on Playboy
My recurring memory of Sharky Bar is falling flat on my face one evening amongst the pool tables many years ago. i had drunk a couple of cans and smoked a joint with some 440 reprobates. When I came to the staff threw me out, it was about 2009 I think. JM may remember.

That is a great story.
Used.to.be the late.night bar for.many of.us.
Leave there and go walkabout. Harrah. Loads of beer.
Looking those pictures - that fat finish guy looks like a mong.
Those birds look like they've had a sausage or two.
Great re-opening. Fascinating clientele and a Scandinavian criminal running.the joint..

Rumours are the new owner also has a share of Shenanigans in street 13 and the Cadillac/Manhattan new combined bar on riverside.

Here's an article about the new Sharky Bar owner. It's in German. The gist is that he's setting up shop in Cambodia because it's a good place for criminals to operate.

They've lost me at "the best prostitutes in the city". What a pile of rubbish.
from his own admission Finn Juha Parhiala was the brain behind the OneCoin / OneLife fraud network and got more than $ 24 million in income. He is one of the rats leaving the sinking ship. In the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, one of the closest confidants of OneCoin inventor dr. Ruja Ignatova bought the "Sharky's Bar". It is well-known and notorious: for good food and the best prostitutes in the city. Parhiala: "I'm not selling OneCoin anymore, I'm selling hookers."
The Finn has been said to have a liking for Asian playmates for a long time. With his sense of financial and practical benefits, Baldhead Parhiala has now apparently found the key to his happiness. Because Cambodia does not deliver the crook. And the revenue from the girls offer him a very good camouflage.
Juha Parhiala is also safe from access by foreign investigators. In the face of the Cambodian police: The fraud network OneCoin / OneLife has left the country virtually untouched in the past and has not ripped off investors and investors. Now, the real reasons for this reluctance are clear: Cambodia is considered a safe haven by the leading OneCoin rats.
With an investment of more than $ 300,000, each foreigner can also acquire citizenship. An examination of whether the applicant has a criminal record or is being investigated against him is of no interest to the Ministry of the Interior in Phnom Penh.
With the possession of a bar, which is one of the secret addresses in the capital, the Finn has established itself quickly and almost undetected. His clients and guests now include civil servants and government officials who enjoy themselves at his own expense. Because security has its price. In addition, prostitution in Cambodia is a recognized day and night business.
According to experts hunting down the OneCoin rats, the bar also serves as a meeting place for the global leaders of the fraud network. Camouflaged as tourists, they can handle all dark business here completely undisturbed.
: gerlachreport was able to talk to a German investigator, who works secretly in Phnom Penh in the investigation against sex tourists: "We assume that the bar also huge amounts of money to be washed," it is said, "our problem is to make the Cambodian authorities realize the full extent and help us. But most European countries have no corresponding agreements. Our work will not be easier. "
The Cambodian representation at the United Nations in New York said: gerlachreport: "The Cambodian authorities intervene only if the internal or external interests of the country are affected. We can not currently see the significance of OneCoin for Cambodia. We are happy to welcome investors and promote the settlement of foreign capital. "
That may then, as in the case OneCoin, also be really dirty.

So if I'm reading this correctly Sharky Bar is going to reopen as a hooker bar? The wheel turns again.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Howie's "The Wall" bar is starting one in a few days time, cabinet and cards already in place on "the wall"!crazyjohn wrote:Wow, joker draw. What an original idea, that will work !
That website looks like a huge pile of lobbyist bullshit to me. There is not even an "about" section that explains who is backing this. The writing style reminds me of cheap tabloids like the BILD Zeitung, except it is even more aggressive. They really seem to like the expression "one coin rats".gavinmac wrote:Here's an article about the new Sharky Bar owner. It's in German. Never been a big fan of Sharky's but sad to see it refurbished and reopened to become what sounds like just another lady bar. Not saying the old one was much different but at least the interior had some sort of unique retro vibe and the music was alright.

From what I've seen the Sharky's bar of the past year was certainly going downhill and in need of a facelift. I'm not sure what makes you think it will be "just another lady bar". Sounds to me that they're really expanding it and making a lot of changes, such as a planned rooftop bar to be open by Feb. What's bad about that?aem wrote: Never been a big fan of Sharky's but sad to see it refurbished and reopened to become what sounds like just another lady bar. Phnom Pehn is screaming out for more rooftop bars. Would keep the tuktuk drivers and peasants at bay.
