Couldn't articulate his innocence? Of being a different person to the one wanted on pedophile charges, or of having some old warrant for speeding?
He has said a lot in response to all this. He says his passport is expired, then he says it isn't. He volunteers that he has criminal charges and a warrant for your arrest. As a general rule, when someone falsely accuses you of doing really bad shit, the best way to defend yourself is not to immediately start admitting to all the lesser stuff you've ever done in your life.
"Honey, are you having an affair with my sister?"
"No! Absolutely Not! That's ridiculous! But your cousin did give me a hand job five years ago. And yesterday I stole $12 from your mom's purse."
The best way for Erdman to clear his name is sit down with a sympathetic reporter, with some key documents, like the mug shots and FB photos and date of birth of Oregon Eric David Erdman, his own passport showing that he's 6 years younger, any passport/travel records showing if he was out of the country on the date in 2010 that Oregon Erdman was sentenced, etc. Then explain to the reporter that he was clearly a victim of mistaken identity and that he was detained by immigration police, at the direction of US authorities, so that they could check out his identity.
But he won't do that because he's the only poster on K440 who doesn't believe his detention by the police was related to suspicion that he was a pedophile. He thinks his detention was motivated purely by his visa overstay, that's the only reason police were interested in him, that's the only reason the nice embassy officials were present at his arrest, and then the reporter totally fabricated the sex offender stuff.
