Is there some kind of Internet law similar to Godwins Law stating that when one poster posts about a family problem, it becomes compulsory for every other poster to jump on the thread and point out that their own partner and their family are fantastic and the poster is very lucky.
It could be called the DetroitMuscle and AndyinAsia Law to pay homage to two greatest users of said law.

Not to forget the 'GavinMac Law', which makes it compulsory to advise the poster NOT to marry (or enter into a relationship with) Khmer girls.

That may be possible if you are an infrequent visitor - some of us actually live and work here.gavinmac wrote:Just never interact with Khmer males at any time, except to pay them for tuk tuk rides. It's easy.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Infrequent visitor? He is here so often and spends so much that there is a separate line item for Gavinmac in the country's GDP figures.

How do they correctly record bar fines in the country's books? It's not like a receipt is issued and a copy kept by the venuealanclarke72 wrote:Infrequent visitor? He is here so often and spends so much that there is a separate line item for Gavinmac in the country's GDP figures.

The process will be covered in the next FreakEnomics book.Starving Pelican wrote:How do they correctly record bar fines in the country's books? Meh. Something witty.

The little twat got busted with his gang in a flophouse last night, so won't be seeing him again for 2 years or so.
No great loss.

You might need to practise the 'me no speaky Khmer' line for when it gets brought up over dinner.

42,857 to be precise. Less than a year's worth.
But
a) I understand they were caught dealing (so harsher penalties)
b) I've been waiting for this sweet sweet 'I told you so' event
c) I'm totally skint, as I'm building a new house out of bricks and everything
I might take him some noodles and a couple of packs of Ara reds to use as currency in HMP Kompong Spue. And maybe some 'spice' as that's what all the British lags are doing to pass the time, I hear.

Well, I will do the opposite then.Is there some kind of Internet law similar to Godwins Law stating that when one poster posts about a family problem, it becomes compulsory for every other poster to jump on the thread and point out that their own partner and their family are fantastic and the poster is very lucky.
I tried this with my Thai nieces.Of course, we've always had lots of nieces stay with us - they're helpful, sweet and cute and I like having them around.
Since their dysfunctional Mum and Dad wouldn't even give them money to buy food, let alone pay for them to go to school, I took them 'under my wing', got them back into school, paid for them to eat regularly etc.
Unfortunately, it all ended in total fcuk-up (several times), since said nieces couldn't give a damn about going to school or eating regularly - they just wanted to go out at night on the back of the teen boys' motorbikes, (so you can guess what happened next...).
I'm out of that now, happily living in Myanmar and the Thai ex-family can go to hell
