Cynical NGO advertising from Sunrise Cambodia
Another tweet. The children were fully informed and gave consent to be portrayed like in the OP. Answering that question could not be done without an "urgh". Again not very professional.
This must be why organizations hire people to handle their social media communication.

What can you do? The absurd stupidity of the thing is it would involve two foreign parties duking it out, neither of whom were actually affected. Worse case, it would lead to a public loss of face for mother and daughter.Barang_doa_slae wrote:Did you sue their asses ? I would have and asking for big bucks too.Petrol Head wrote:One of the major anti-trafficking NGOs used an image of my cute as a button niece in their virtual and hard copy propaganda. She was neither:
A) trafficked
B) 'at risk' - I've got the damn school fee receipts to prove it!
To this day I don't know where they jagged the photo from - probably a mate's Facebook. Definitely didn't get permission from the illiterate mother, or us the financial guardians.
Makes you think - when you trade on looks for dollars, who's trafficking who?
Better to crack on with actual tangible support like uniforms and private school for the little one I reckon.

Lucy Perry has culturally appropriated her hairstyle from the animal kingdom.
"@wmyeoh @carlystephan @sunrisecambodia oh what crap you talk. It's the only way to bring the horror home to generous Aussies."
But let's not focus on that, let's focus on Geraldine Cox instead:
"@khmer440 would be great if you could tweet about the remarkable work of @GeraldineCoxAM instead."
While Lucy proceeds making people uncomfortable:
"Nope not dodgy at all. Might make you a little uncomfortable but that's when ppl donate."

I'm almost certain that Geraldine is laughing at your jealousy..
It must be nice to be stuck in a third world shithouse with millions of dollars to play with.

A couple of personal attacks on Sunrise people have been deleted. Let's not ruin what could be an interesting thread with that sort of nonsense.

If I understand this fundraising campaign correctly, Sunrise Cambodia are saying that all the intelligent people and professionals were killed by the Khmer Rouge forty years ago, and we need to raise all this money to replace all the professionals, the lawyers, doctors, and tradespeople. Hence the phrase 'Rebuild the Braintrust".
If I've got that right, that has to be one of the most cynically manipulative fundraising campaigns in NGO history. FFS, it was 40 years ago.
These people are fucking shameless.

Do they not have a point? From my experience here the professionals, lawyers, doctors and tradespeople are largely fucking useless.alanclarke72 wrote:All the intelligent people and professionals were killed by the Khmer Rouge forty years ago, and we need to raise all this money to replace all the professionals, the lawyers, doctors, and tradespeople. Yet the programs of merit that 'generous Aussies' should donate to are sewing and cooking for the girls, and carpentry classes for the boys..alanclarke72 wrote:If I understand this fundraising campaign correctly, Sunrise Cambodia are saying that all the intelligent people and professionals were killed by the Khmer Rouge forty years ago, and we need to raise all this money to replace all the professionals, the lawyers, doctors, and tradespeople. Something twisted about appealing for generous Aussies to donate money to train underage sex abuse victims to sew so they can work in for starvation wages in a third world garment factories making cheap clothes for westerners, including Australians, presumably in part so they can be generous and donate money to train...etc.
GC is richer than Croesus. Nothing like begging Hun Sen for a passport so you can "more effectively help the kids" and then scoring one and super effectively helping yourself....

More tweets from Ms Perry today. I suspect Geraldine is less than impressed with the stroppiness of her CEO today. The last tweet is quite extraordinary.
Next she'll be accusing me of being complicit in forcing young girls into sex trafficking.scobienz wrote:More tweets from Ms Perry today. I suspect Geraldine is less than impressed with the stroppiness of her CEO today. The last tweet is quite extraordinary.
