Are they associated with Zaman then? They are a Goran related operation here. The Turkish ambassador asked to have the school closed down, post coup attempt everything is being blamed on Goran. I don't know much about Zaman, I remember a Chinese friend who worked for them ten years ago saying they didn't approve of smoking, which is fair enough for a school. As far as them being strongly Muslim I haven't seen any evidence to support that. I believe they segregate their classes by gender ( whatever the fuck that means now), but their is no indoctrination or religious teaching going on there as far as I know.banlung wrote:I used to live near the accomodation that horizon gices its staff. ok accomodation. ok wages. they will take uncertified teachers through necessity. It is led by that Goran? Turkish cult. they disapporve of drinking which obviously conflicts with most teachers abroad, they r strongly muslim but they r a cult and try to recruit top students into their cult through extra-curricular activites. Bizarre tho it sounds.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Dont know anything about Zaman , except yes, I heard they are also goran-run.
Seems so absurd these turkish (ergo muslim if not fanatics) spreading their cult by schools which certainly have their faults. Jesus, u shud see the teachers they employ: but fundamentally they r still ok by international standards in these 3rd world countries. Particuarly in a hyper-Buddhist country like Burma.
They will also try to recruit amenable and suitable to Turkish tastes, teachers. funded if they do it to positions of influence Like the students their further education and carreer path will be suggested to them, funded if they do it,- to positions of influence .
Just amazes me they can get any Burmese Buddhists into their towelhead cult claws. never mine chinese atheists etc

Who is Goran? Goran Reljic, the Slavic fighter?
The Gulen movement has schools operating in many countries including the United States. They even receive government funds for their charter schools. They're obviously trying to find new followers for their cult, even if they aren't using the schools to directly initiate their students. The United States shouldn't tolerate the rabble-rousing Gulen cult or their Armenian puppet masters. It is a disgrace and it is a serious wedge in American-Turkish relations.
For Muslims, the Gulen movement is fairly moderate; they waste a lot of paper writing about science and Islam.
Overall, if you're gonna join a Turkish cult I'd recommend joining this group:

Does no one remember the guy from when he taught in Phnom Penh? Can we find out where he drank and then use that info to cast aspersions on all of that bar's customers?

I'm not sure what you meant by that - it's fair to say that there have been some rotten pieces of shit who have rocked up on Cambodia's shores and landed teaching jobs. However, I don't recall any teacher here ever murdering anyone.
When my wife is upset with me I murder my Johnson with my right hand..... Does that count for something?

Erstwhile K440 poster stains used to work at Horizon, or as he referred to it as Horrorson. I also used to live down the road from their accommodation block. Strange place, notwithstanding stains' presence...

An interesting story if any of those lovey twat NGOs did actually wanna help kids.
I went up to the end of the road to buy some DVDs, stopped at a beer shop. Some guy joins me for a beer , we sink a half-flask of rotgut then at his insistence and my incredulity that their might be a disco i didnt know about, we went their in his taxi.
the "disco" was apparently at the , ahem, well-known, JJs club but apparently also outside in the carpark.
It was basically something like a perp-walk except the perps were terrified young girls dressed up to the nines.
I declined, started to ask questions. the perp-walk disappereared in an instant. the lovely, lovely man who had paid for my dinner then presumed i wanted to bum him instead. to which again, i ingraciously replied. him and his weird, fat lovely, lovely man, longyi-wearing weirdo taxi-gangster scum started a meth-infused dialogue and 1 of the fags told me it was dangerous and i shud leave as the fat lovely, lovely man taxi driver was whinging about how i didnt wanna nail a kid or him and he'd paid my dinner etc.5 $ max.
dunno if they were just spastics or hoping to extort a drunk foreigner.
i just walked off , as advised
clearly NGOs r wotrhless everywhere (even more so in burma) but damn if u cud have seen the faces of those children paraded like sheep in a dark car-park OUTSIDE of JJS. man, it wud make even a cunt like me get angry. i wud have been happy to have kicked that fat lovely, lovely man taxi drivers head in, but there were about 10 of them and i presume they wud have had knives and i would have ended dead or with a blood orange for an asshol.
