Interesting he said that he handed a case to CPU yet McCabe has never heard of these guys. How can this guy just show up here and be the man? I don't get it.
Is this problem as bad as they say? Does anyone even know?

The problem with the world is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
If the CPU can handle these cases why doesn't he just fundraise for them?
The cynic in me would say it's because in setting up an org that he runs, he gets to give himself a paycheck.

I don't doubt that it exists but I think you would have to go looking for it rather than it being brazenly offered to you.PorkPiePorn wrote:I watched a few No Joke Howard videos a few days ago. I wondered if these kind of things happening could be entrapment or sting. More of these APLE NGO types on the ground could be laying traps like this. It occurred to me how bad this is, because, people go and report that this happened, when in fact it might not have been real, and further to that, these kinds of reports will encourage the kind of men seeking this kind of thing to go to Cambodia. In the end, the NGO's create an industry, just like a fire department that hires arsonists.
I shouldn't have to say this part, but of course I know these problems exist, but I have never see it myself, neither have I ever been solicited.
I've been offered drugs & sexy ladies on many occasions but never have been offered a child. Thankfully - I don't know how I would react if offered.
I wonder how much those who report on the widespread nature of it really understand what is going on - I mean linguistically, are they limited in their understanding and assuming that children are being offered.
I was at the riverside once when I witnessed a child beggar asking for food and the tourist though the child was offering oral sex. I corrected him but i don't think he really believed me.
Some people want to believe the worst - it makes for good stories back home.

Yes and it makes me cringe a bit, especially when my western friends or family will say things like "its known as ..." or "considering the reputation... " Just bugs me, and if there is really a big problem I hope they can stamp it out, but if not (and I suspect that it was once and has been cleaned up hugely) they are actually making things worse by being busybodies.
Once the funds start to flow, its counter intuitive to say when your services are no longer required.

Huh?? When were you born? Yesterday? Are you seriously asking if pedophilia is as bad a problem as they say? It is VERY bad! Or are you in denial mode and trying to portray the usual culprits (i.e. western visitors) as saints visiting this part of the world?

No, I do not know, because theres a lot of fiction mixed in with fact. As I made the case that the people who are running stings create a buzz that children are being offered on the streets. All I have said is that I have not seen anything like this. (granted, I guess I am not in the kinds of places perhaps where this might be happening) The only thing I have seen is some of these guys getting arrested in Cambodia, and yet that also happens everywhere in the world. Its actually a lot bigger of a story when a westerner gets arrested in Cambodia for child sex offenses than back home, however all through the west (world) it is rampant. All I am saying is that I do not know and just wondering if anyone really does? The 'facts' are often coming from the organizations that thrive on the problem. See?

An NGO report released in 2013 examined the prevalence of children among individuals in commercial sex establishments in three Cambodian cities and found that children comprised 8.2 percent of this population. The study concluded that the 2013 finding represented a significant decline in this form of child sex trafficking compared to earlier reports by different entities published in 1997 and 2000. The same NGO reported that a March 2015 assessment found that the prevalence of children among this population declined further to 2.2 percent
Cambodian men form the largest source of demand for children exploited in prostitution; however, men from other Asian countries, the United States, Australia, South Africa, and Europe travel to Cambodia to engage in child sex tourism. https://www.state.gov/j/tip/rls/tiprpt/ ... 258738.htm
I used to defend people charged with crimes in the USA, some charged with this crime. There seems to be a fetishized focus on pedophilia in Cambodia. My experience teaches me that child rape goes down MOSTLY in close knit family situations in the western world because thats where people have opportunity and reduced risk. They can intimidate a child who trusts them. I imagine this dynamic is similar all over the world. Is pedophilia more common in poor countries, maybe, I don't know. But i would think the problem in Cambodia is similar to other places where the uncle or the neighbor grooms a kid and then takes advantage. So yea, you can be outraged by this crime and take action whereever you live because it goes on A LOT.RBD wrote:How to give Cambodia a really bad name - soon to go around the world trying to drum up funds on the basis that the country is full of child-raping foreigners. These "White Savior" organizations bring tens of thousands of dollars - perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars - into Cambodia year after year
(along with the selfless people rescuing sunbears, maltreated elephants and perhaps even pubic lice) so the government has to weigh the substantial
financial contribution to the broad economy against the nasty publicity -
"We are WHITE SAVIORS in a benighted Third World country tracking down evil foreigners! Give us money now! As much as you can!
Only with your help can we protect innocent little children!

Most children in any part of the world get abused by people they know in some capacity, NOT by strangers.racontuer wrote:
