Where do you want to retire?
Cambodia is a place for some right now. Outside of Cambodia, where would you want to retire? Where are you from?
I'd love a little log cabin up around the Grand Canyon area among the pine forrests.
But outside of my home country, Missus DM and I would really want to retire in Kyoto, Japan. When we left Cambodia, we headed to Japan for a few weeks and while we only had a short time there, we loved all of Japan but Kyoto the most. It was the first place we travelled to together where we could see ourselves living out our older years. Who knows what will happen in the 30 years it will take for us to reach retirement age. It is nice having something to work towards. I loved Tokyo but unless millions of dollars are made in the next few decades, I don't see Tokyo being viable. Very costly to live there.

Anyone who doesn't like Capitalism is a pathetic loser. God bless the USA and no place else.

pew, pew, pew, pew!
Anywhere in SEA - Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand or Vietnam although I lean toward Indonesia as it's a three hour flight to Australia, I have a bit of the language, it's cheap and it's got all that I need.

The Australian language does take a while to master, but I'm sure you'd get by with what you have.Londo wrote:Anywhere in SEA - Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand or Vietnam although I lean toward Indonesia as it's a three hour flight to Australia, I have a bit of the language, it's cheap and it's got all that I need.

I'll second Kyoto. I was lucky enough to travel there while in High School and just knew I would be back living there someday. A year later I was back living there and loved every minute of it. I spent much of my first ten years after high school either living there or staying for long periods of time in Kyoto. Other than the brutally hot and humid summers its a pretty charming place. The cost of living in Kyoto would not be far off Tokyo to be honest. Japan place has always felt more at home for me than Cambodia. Both have their good and bad points but I think I prefer Japan.DetroitMuscle wrote:Cambodia is a place for some right now. Outside of Cambodia, where would you want to retire? Where are you from?

Is Cape Town that expensive? I thought the prices there were very reasonable when I was last there eighteen months ago.
I think those hoping to retire in Japan are going to be disappointed. The visa situation is tough.

Haha!Except for one thing...it's not a grammatical mistake. It's a spelling mistake. Never mind, Shakespeare, perhaps you can move it to buy and sell ...with approval, of course.scobienz wrote:vladimir wrote:I have never reitred...I odn't think.

Apart from the Angolan capital, CT is the most expensive city in Africa. Japan also has issues regarding xenophobia.scobienz wrote:Hanno wrote:Ideally, in Cape Town but I will probably never be able to afford it. Leaves SE Asia...
