Yeah, I noticed that today, it was the first acknowledgement of him I'd seen of him by the opposition. To be honest I never noticed he was even interested in politics till he started flying his fucking drone.Miguelito wrote:Well, that article did say:Lucky Lucan wrote:There doesn't seem to be much support for him coming from the opposition. Hardly surprising, he's not exactly the type of character anyone would want to be associated with.
Rainsy defended Ricketson today, saying he was simply doing “his work as a journalist” in corresponding with him.
“Emails I received from him were of the kind I received from many other foreign journalists,” Rainsy said in an email. “Now James is only a scapegoat and a hostage held by the government to frighten other foreign journalists and deter them from writing critical reports about the HE regime.”

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
If Rainsy had to flee, which he did, then all associates in Cambo are screwed.
Particularly those already in detention.
Particularly those already in detention.
What happened to the character reference from Steve Morrish that Ricketson supplied the court. Surely that would have done the trick.
I have a policy of never making any political statement or negative statement about any country I am currently enjoying as a guest in.

TRYPTYC - you are one of the smart ones. Unfortunately there are so many expats in Cambodia who think that they have a license to say whatever they like, particularly about the Government, and not face any ramifications. Its so wrong and in this day and age of the Government clamping down on negative material, we all need to be very careful what we say on social media.
Whenever someone brings up politics to me I change the subject to money in american politics, which usually leads to Trump vs Hilary, which is boring and over talked about, so it leads into a subject change lol

Men must sleep with their arms around each other like lovers, legs over torsos, heads within inches of each other.
I have had to endure such living conditions for nine months now

Most sensible people wait till they get released before writing their prison memoirs. I guess sensible is not the first word that comes to mind when describing this clownhennessy wrote:Ricketson's account of his daily life in prison:

All his moaning, it reminds me of the Four Yorkshiremen "Inmates are packed into the cell like sardines, if you can imagine three people sleeping in a single bed you will get some idea of what it is like."Lucky Lucan wrote:Most sensible people wait till they get released before writing their prison memoirs. three in a single bed, Luxury!
I like how he complains about the effect it's having on his family while taking absolutely no responsibility for the fact that he knowingly and repeatedly insulted multiple, powerful politicians in a country known for cracking down against dissent. He should consider himself lucky, not because of his unfortunate supporters but because he's not at the bottom of a river or facedown in a rice paddy somewhere.

Indeed or the multiple attacks on CCF and CPU and the personal vendetta's against the management teams of both organisations. He has a real persecution complex. It's a shame his experience in the chokey hasn't humbled him.1984 wrote:I like how he complains about the effect it's having on his family while taking absolutely no responsibility for the fact that he knowingly and repeatedly insulted multiple, powerful politicians in a country known for cracking down against dissent. When i walked around that old prison in Chinooky it made me shudder at the spooning or close contact with other dudes that must have gone on in those tiny cells of a night, where the sleeping areas probably couldnt contain my 6ft frame, and the 2 floors meant you would be crouching with yer arse sticking out all the time when walking in and out. I bet it would be a relief to visit the showers.
Do you think Cambodian prisons have ''the sisters'' ?

I read Murdoch’s story early this morning and thought what a dick this man is. He sought notoriety by slandering many powerful people including me. His 440 blog is full of nonsense criticising and slandering so many people. He should have been locked up long ago. His love affair with Fletch the pommie crim was pathetic. He sought to become a martyr and now he is one. Stop whinging you weak prick. You didn’t know what awaited you for stupid behaviour in Cambodia?

When the Japanese were under US occupation and they wanted to publish something about the Americans, they would just say "a bigga white-a man".texansteak wrote:TRYPTYC - you are one of the smart ones.
