Incredible! Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to share this!Miguelito wrote:Yesterday afternoon I was in the alleyway by Patio, and a white guy was hanging out with the Tuk Tuk drivers, and he asked if I wanted a Tuk Tuk when I went by. I wasn't sure what his deal was, if he was a tourist staying at the hotel or what, but I declined and kept walking. A few hours later when I was leaving, there was another white guy hanging out with the Tuk Tuks, and he stepped out ans said "hey do you need a tuk tuk?" I asked if he was driving and he said no, this guy is (pointing to a guy). I mumbled something like "at jan, mein laan" as I walked quickly away.
I wonder if they're friends with the drivers, or starting some sort of TukTuk business of their own. But I'm going to get really annoyed if I have to start ignoring white guys who can make full sentences on top of the regular call outs for "tuk tuk".
White guys calling out "tuk tuk"

I've always wondered how the tuk tuks who park in that alley by Patio make any money at all.

Aside from the low low salary and probably long hours, I have to say I envied them a bit. Sunshine. Hanging with your tuk tuk pals all day and playing cards. Reading a book. Then when you get a customer you fire up the engine and off you go through the maze of Phnom Penh traffic. And the tuk tuk driver I ended up re-using a bunch of times had a family in Kandal province so the salary couldn't be too terrible.

It's not like he has the family set up in a tax haven in the Costa del Kandal.
