How can Sharkys be improved?
Since it is quiet here and Sharkys has been advertised for sale in the Business section of this forum I thought it may help any prospective owner to get an idea of what people think can be done to improve Sharky Bar. It could be re positioning it in the market place (hostess bar, quality dining, comedy venue, renewed freelancer bar, sports bar, etc or something else), or leaving it as it is and just making it better and more profitable.
So over to the brains trust of K440... How can Sharky Bar be improved?

Note to self: Must be nice to morons.
They could change the name. Apparently it's a tough one to spell.
Just busting your balls. On a serious note I don't think a freelance place that size could work post Walkabout and Martini's. Maybe a Hard Rock Cafe or similar? The one already in PP is inconvenient to go to.
Bless

Just make it like Madame Tussauds with wax mannequins resembling the original clientele, pimps, free lancers, ex-berets, punkrock musicians and all, and charge the hipsters for entrance.

Just fill it with freelancers again and rename it The Hard Cock.

a bit like trying to catch lightning in a jar.
to reinvent or resurrect a place is as hard to do as recreating a time or a feeling.
the people that haunted that place in it's hayday are gone and they just don't seem to be making them any more.
but if i had to make a list:
1. sort out the kitchen. people always show up for good food at a good price.
2. hire interesting and energetic staff. folks always love a good story or a good looker.
3. fix the pool cues and get back to sponsored pool events.
4. get the music fixed. live acts on certain nights. if you want a late night thing... reopen the Shark Cage and get a decent dj.
5. freelancers. they where the bread and butter of Sharky's. Martini... gone. Walkabout... gone. GSM... disgusting.
6. and last but not least.... free popcorn.
my 2 cents.

Then why pay 65k. Find a good location that you can pack 300 souls in, and start afresh.

Bring back Dave. Not going to fix the joint, but at least it would be an improvement.
Last time I went in, our group of five made up almost the entire clientele. Okay, it was a Monday night, but it was really a shadow of the place.
$1.75 for a draught is a bit rich. I can understand that price when there is a band on, but for the rest of the time, if you are staring at empty spaces it seems a bit rich.
Random thoughts:
I used to go regularly to meet friends or watch bands. Food was always really ordinary for my tastes. Cigarette smoke - was choking in there some nights, awful. It was often difficult to get a refill - there was one girl that was very good, but she left. Paying your bill was quite a slow process when it was busy in there, I learned to ask for my bill when I ordered my last drink.
I've not been in during the Joker Draw, but that should pull in a decent crowd if the dough is up. There's the big opportunity to impress new customers. You only get one go with food though, gotta be right first time and every time. WA used to overflow onto the streets on the corner, that's a lot of punters.
