Wouldn't it only be handy if one of those was cambodian? (Which means the visa issue is irrelevant). You have to get entry and exit stamps and so forth. You cant leave on one and enter on another because you wouldnt have the required entry/exit stamps.? Or am i wrong??YaTingPom wrote:Having dual citizenship/passports would be handy in those circumstances.Londo wrote:It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if you're permitted indefinite visa runs. Before anybody panics or thinks it's all good, remember this is only the tip of the iceberg of what's coming. Enjoy the ride and see you on the other side.

That's true about the dates, they are basically valid for one calendar year. The first one I got was applied for in February but took a while to process and only got delivered around September with 3 months left on it. I didn't care as the whole backlog had been sorted out. The next one was a bit quicker. Now you get a neater credit card-style permit now instead of some laminated document.Bubble T wrote:violet wrote:Other than extending only for three months, I wonder what the best course of action is for a person whose work permit ends in December and whose EOS ends in January.
Afaik all work permits expire on Dec 31st, and you apply for next year's before that (I think its supposed to be November, I can check at work tomorrow). That means anyone applying for a long term visa from September would be doing so with only a couple of months left on the work permit. I can only assume this means you need the permit for the visa to be issued, but that the permit doesn't have to be valid for the full term of the visa.
I don't see how it could work any other way.

Example.
Enter and exit on a Canadian passport x 3 (or until they say cannot come again) and then enter and exit on an American passport x 3. Then use the Canadian passport that will show you last exited six months ago.

I have a work permit but what about dependents (wife and two children who are not Cambodian), how will they be affected?

Yeah, it's gonna hurt a lot of free-lancers with family and friends here, making their income online, like myself. I just don't think they want to pay me the same here for what I do, which has become a varied sort of late. Too bad, I consider myself a fairly respectable human being, I seriously don't know what to do, other than go get a renewal for another year tomorrow, and see what happens. It takes a lot of money and tons of paperwork to move a Cambodian family to the west, something I would like to avoid, gotten used to this place, freezing my but off out there, even in places like SoCal.
