I've heard some said they simply can't anymore and a few agents have said they probably can do 1 or 3 months extensions but it must be before Friday the 9th. After that, no dice.violet wrote:Has anyone asked any other agents if they have heard the same?

You can only enter Thailand twice overland in any 12 month period, no restrictions on flying (at the moment). So unless you can afford to fly it looks like Vietnam might be getting visa runners (which has its own problems depending on nationality).

4 visa runs a year, 2 of which can be by land.
There are a lot of cheap sub $100 flights now to Bangkok, even Macau.

Wouldn't that be up to 6 runs a year for many people? 1 month tourist visa plus 1 month extension.gavinmac wrote:4 visa runs a year, 2 of which can be by land.

I just spent the last 20 months criss - crossing Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam land borders and I reckon this tightening of visa laws might just do you all a favour. Cambodia sucks big time when compared to the other three and both Vietnam and Laos appear to be getting easier n easier to stay longer term, can't say the same for Thailand but a couple of months in Issan a year cannot be a bad thing. Take this as an opportunity to travel a bit more.
k440, something to do when you're pissed.

laos extend to 3 months then border run needed and repeat at 20000kip a day so most expensive in the region. laos also stings you with atm transaction fees
sounds to me like election fever. should be fine again after july
so check again then

I was told they cannot under any circumstances extend any E visa (ordinary) without work contract / and other paperwork. They said Tourist visa can still be extended one month. This is going to fuck with a lot of plans for a lot of people who are here for legitimate reasons yet are falling through these thoughtless gaps by immigration.
People have been getting full extensions with marriage certs and supporting documents, hope this still stands. Otherwise there's still the C visa route for those with government working spouses.
Is this referring to E visas, and if so, what type of E visa?
I don't see what the fuss is about, all over tax. Work, pay taxes, can stay.
Tax is an issue khmer businesses are having to address too. Now my boss is livid with the accountant (private pike) as he recently fucked up revenue with profit, costing the company $4000 extra on a 1 month return.

Individuals cannot pay tax. Only businesses. ... i think that’s right. I may be mis-remembering. That’s an issue for people working individually for multiple people, or working online. Costs to set up sole prop. business are not astronimical but still need to be budgeted for many.pedros wrote:I don't see what the fuss is about, all over tax. Work, pay taxes, can stay.

I would like to know about these. The cheapest I could find -- Chiang Mai to PP --was 170 Air Asia but Air Asia has these baggage tricks that increase the charge 3 fold.gavinmac wrote:4 visa runs a year, 2 of which can be by land.

Then there is Bangkok Air for 260, which turns out to be the cheapest.
There is also Hong Kong Express, but they make you wait for 10 hours in HK.
