Seek feedback about iTsumo, the Cambodia TukTuk n Taxi App
We have developed a taxi app challenging giant Uber/Grab and other copycat apps in Cambodia.
It has been a year since our soft start. In Phnom Penh, there are enough partner taxis now, it's available in big provinces also such as SR, SHV, Kampot... but there are still few.
Currently, we offer,
+5% Cashback for every ride (for unlimited period)
+5000KHR Reward Promo Code: ITSU
+5000KHR Reward for inviting a friend.
More friend invites more rewards, Plz check your invitation code in the app.
Now We're preparing for next updated version and We'd like to seek your feedback in order to kaizen the app, make it more user-friendly, more useful, fast, also cost effective and idea how to make it more acceptable for most expats in Cambodia. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
fr. iTsumo Team.

I downloaded this last week, tried to book a tuk tuk, and got a message from the driver that simply said "no", then another message that my 'ride has started', followed by another message from the driver again "no". Then I killed the app and walked outside to hail a tuk tuk.
The estimated prices in the app look good, but I'm not sure why I need to receive messages from a prospective driver that I have no control over choosing or rejecting myself. Whoever accepts it the fare, send them.

There seems to be a lot of interest around these "taxi booking apps" Do people use these a lot? I would have thought most people would have their own transport but given the traffic condition perhaps not. Do people now find it not convenient to own their own transport?
When I came here over 20 years ago I had a Hilux, and my driver probably drove me around more than I drove myself, but getting around was easy. When traffic started to be problematic I got a CBR and used that, not actually needing a vehicle. Now I am retired I have a small moto which is fine for my needs, other than if I need to get somewhere in heavy rain I don't see the point of these apps when I can just go out of my condo and get a tuk tuk for 10,000 Riel (I live about 6 k from the city centre). If I want to get out of town I hire a decent SUV and driver which works out well. Am I missing something here?

Yes, I think people do use quite a lot of them. Now with Uber, I know many locals who have started to use as well. Before it was mostly tourists and expats who used it.Mèo Đen wrote:There seems to be a lot of interest around these "taxi booking apps" Do people use these a lot? I use them daily. I wouldn't want to own car in Phnom Penh because of the traffic and parking. I do have moto that I use most of the time, but when it rains or I'm not alone, taxi is much nicer. For me these apps bring convenience. I have no interest to haggle price under the hot sun or rain. It's just so much easier to to order a car, get out of building, get in to car and take of. Also I like that I don't have to be the co-driver and keep telling where to go. And when arrived I just step out the car without the need of listening "oh sorry I don't have change for $5" etc. Also usually the rides are bit cheaper when booked through app, but probably I'm not just that good haggler.

When I'm in PP, I prefer to drive myself most of the time, but when going out and about with my family I like to use passapp taxi or indian tuktuk.
It's much cheaper than regular tuks and can travel from Ratana Plaza area to most parts of town for 7/12000R.
Ive not used itsumo app yet, but will at some point.

Do you need a phone to use this,
or can you order a taxi from a wifi connected tablet with no associated phone number?

Mobile data or Wifi is OK.
As long as there is internet connection, you can order with iTumo App.
iTsumo also supports VoIP. So no need registration if you don't want driver know your phone number, driver still can reach you via VoIP in case he/she wants to confirm your booking.
With Passapp, you can put in whatever number you want. That's useful, as it makes it easy to send tuk's for people.
There are many copycats. I think not bad about it bc we have more options to choose.
Please try iTsumo once.
We,local engineers developed it by ourselves.

Actually you can reject any driver with the App. At top-left, there is cancel option.

That's not the point. A driver rejected my ride. I got a blunt message from a driver that said simply, "no". Twice.poophnom wrote:Actually you can reject any driver with the App. At top-left, there is cancel option.epidemiks wrote:I downloaded this last week, tried to book a tuk tuk, and got a message from the driver that simply said "no", then another message that my 'ride has started', followed by another message from the driver again "no". Why?
As a passenger booking a ride, I have zero interest in who doesn't want to take my fare, or why - that's between drivers and the app.
What I care about is a vehicle arriving at my location in a reasonable amount of time, for a reasonable fare.

Thank you so much for your information.
Many drivers still don't know how to see map and still analog. Some TukTuks even cannot read. We keep improving iTsumo app. Regards
