1. So I don't get sick. "Hygiene: conditions or practices conducive to maintaining health and preventing disease, especially through cleanliness." Still a whacky, theoretical concept here. Have you ever been in a Khmer's kitchen when the women are preparing meals? They chop everything on an old wooden board that has never been sanitized ever on a dirty floor next to the bathroom, FFS. I was never a germophobe before I moved here. In Cambodia, washing=a quick rinse with sketchy water.
2. I know exactly what's going into the food I'm eating.
3. Frugality. I can make just about anything at a fraction of the cost of eating out. And it usually tastes much better.
4. It's the only hobby I have that I practice almost every day. And it's the most practical one.
5. It's fun.
6. My wife doesn't like to cook, therefore she can't.
7. Chicks everywhere dig guys who can cook. This was much more relevant in the past, but now my wife's female relatives, friends, and coworkers are really envious of her.
Today for lunch, my wife will eat a 150 gram steak (already marinated overnight, grilled medium rare), french green beans with a little bacon and garlic, a few slices of grilled carrots (need some color other than green), a small portion of spaghetti with pesto (homemade of course), and a medium-sized mixed greens salad with a little dressing. All of this will cost me less than 15,000 riel to make. These are all nutritional foods she loves, and she won't get the squirts later.
I know you're probably just being a troll, but I've just finished prepping lunch and there's nothing good on TV.
Is having someone else cook for you one of the main reasons you're here? That's sad.
