They'll ask to see your passport before letting you in and then not give it back if you have warrants or past due child support.

It's a "look at us engaging with our citizens abroad and performing a valuable service with your hard-earned tax dollars which proves we're not all CIA operatives" photo-op. You think they have any intention or incentive to answer questions? Come on. You get to be an ambassador by donating lots of money to presidential campaigns. Nothing more.Miguelito wrote:What is the actual point of this?

Little chance of anything worthwhile being discussed if bscw is going to be there harping on about his personal issuesMiguelito wrote:Actually, I stand corrected. I will be out of town, but will pay $100 to an American that will question the Ambassador about GavinMac’s report about the incident at GSM a few years ago that has been a cover up. Contact me: I expect a serious question and follow up - an articulate summarization of the hypocrisy of the embassy and how they will rectify it. This is a great opportunity for a former Cambodia Daily employee to earn a few bucks.

On the contrary my dear girl. I intend to ask questions about US interests in Cambodia .... and consular services as a side dish. Who knows, if I get loud enough maybe Blake will try to throw me out. Now that would be worth watching.lemo wrote:got an invite from our regional headquarters -
The U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh is pleased to invite interested U.S. citizens to attend a town hall meeting on Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Ambassador William Heidt and other Embassy officials will be present to answer your questions regarding U.S. interests in Cambodia, consular services to U.S. citizens, and other topics that guests wish to discuss.
is this a regular thing? anybody's going/have been?
i was hoping for an invite to a Thanksgiving dinner, not town hall.. with turkey being pardoned of course.. or replaced with chinese duck.
i'm curious, but afraid i'll ask some stupid questions if i go.. like opinions about Trump's presidency.. or current CIA operatives count now that CNRP is dissolved and NDI expelled.. etc.

Go on son, you tell 'em.Harold wrote:The #fakenews thing started right after the election of Trump. If any Americans go, perhaps you can ask how he feels the free press is doing in the U.S. after it’s been shown that Russia meddled extensively in the election with paid advertisements and trolls on social media, which the president won’t condemn, at the same time the president started the #FakeNews thought process. Or what he thinks about investgating/jailing the opposition... you know, Hillary, who has been investigated for years and even put on the stand for 12 hours on live TV, and always cleared by even a Republican controlled house. Or, if someone is really brave, they could ask why the U.S. has cut their funding in the past week for mine/unexplored ordinance clearance, when they are UXOs dropped by the Americans 40 years ago.
Nah, just ask how to register a baby after they’re born here, that’ll be worth an afternoon off of work to hear.
What evidence do you have that Russians "extensively meddled in the election with paid advertisements and trolls on social media." What website did the Russians advertise on and how much money did they spend?
The US still has press freedom and free speech unlike backward countries like Spain, France, and Armenia that jail people for simply stating the fact that the atrocities committed against the Armenian people do not constitute a genocide as defined by the United Nations.

Like many great scandals in history, I don’t think GM cared too much about the event, but more about the coverup afterwards, redacting every single page.Felgerkarb wrote:Questioning the ambassador about an event years ago not under his watch will gain you nothing. Maybe let me look into that followed by jack and squat. You want to know something, ask local staff who are always there.

I have to say, I see why you are not a criminal lawyer. You don't know the first thing about criminal law. Kinda puts a lot of your posts into perspective now.gavinmac wrote:There's no way BSCW is going to be allowed in to this thing after threatening violence against a bunch of embassy staffers.
