Cambodia just got a mention on BBC's Test Match Special. Someone called J******* texted a message about how after waking up to hear a neighbour's drilling and various other bad starts to the day, Cook had just got out. Anyway, England in trouble at 89-4.

The follow on is not always used/enforced, and Aust. may well go in again, even if only to give Jimmy some much needed bowling practice.pedros wrote:I can't see the Aussies batting again in this match.

Bet they wished they had now....
Can England pull it out the hat? I doubt it, but.... That was some shockingly bad batting 2nd innings. I think a draw could be done if cook doesn't fuck it on the first ball.
The good news is both Hales and Stokes look like they will be in the squad for the odi matches next month.

'Atta boy Jimmy, gets a 5w bag (edit). Love a game of cricket that see-saws. Was pleased Smith didn't force the follow on - there's hope yet, lolpedros wrote:kinard wrote:The follow on is not always used/enforced, and Aust. may well go in again, even if only to give Jimmy some much needed bowling practice.pedros wrote:I can't see the Aussies batting again in this match.

England's bowling attack lacks the pace needed to keep up with Aust., a side obsessed with pace. Impressive figures though from Eng's. bowlers in the second innings. Not sure who got man of the match, but JA deserved it with his 5 for 43; outstanding, and must surely be a fillip for the side.
So, off to Perth for the 3rd test. Traditionally bouncy with a fast out-field, but can't say what's in store for the tourists here, as the Gabba didn't hold up to its fast wicket reputation.
It will be the last Ashes test to be played at the Waca as the new stadium will be completed by the time England return.

True, but it's rumoured that Mark Wood might be able to play in Perth.kinard wrote:England's bowling attack lacks the pace needed to keep up with Aust.
Bob Willis on whether Mark Wood should play in Perth
It looks likely that he will play in this weekend's warm-up game after bowling at a decent lick for the Lions - and if he was fit and bowling fast, I think it would be worth taking that risk and playing him the third Test.
The WACA, which will be hosting its final Test, does not have the pitch it once had, I don't think they can produce the sort of fast track they used to, but England need something a bit more special and not four guys bowling roughly the same speed.

Injury issue, ankle unfortunately, so a case of wait and see how he goes in Brisbane, though don't think he'll be up to 90mph somehow.springrain wrote:True, but it's rumoured that Mark Wood might be able to play in Perth.kinard wrote:England's bowling attack lacks the pace needed to keep up with Aust.
Expecting an announcement re Stokes in next 3-4 days, but got to say he's not been too flash in the kiwi domestic comp.
